Conditions?

Got out early this morning

I started at rt 27 lot to red, skipped orange as in my experience it usually has more areas of water. to white to jacques to red back to rt 27. I skipped blue for the same reason I skipped orange.

Trails were in better shaped then i expected there were some areas of slip (loose mud) and standing water, but nothing that couldn't be negotiated. I never went around anything in order to keep the trails single track I went through any mud or water.

I just had to get out after a week of rain and now it looks like more rain tonight. :getsome:

Twisties was actually in pretty good shape this morning. White and red near jaques was in bad shape as was a few parts on blue. It kinda snuck up on me. All was good till i came around a turn on white. Then it was crappy from there until after middlebush. Hopefully well have some decent conditions towards the end of next week.

Yeah ran into that. Track was def slow I was braking on lots of turns and downhill as not to wipeout. As for the twisties if I can't ride them fast they just ain't fun so i skipped them.

Around noon, Blue starting from canal road had a lot of mud pits and was getting pretty rutted up so we turned around and rode the canal path instead. We warned a couple of others away as well since the trail was obviously taking a beating in spots.

This week we will be starting up the weekday AM trail-fix missions.

Send me a PM if you can join in the fun.

Figure 8-10 am weekdays.

Think the trails will be good tomorrow (tuesday) by 5pm? Maybe Jdog can report after his TM tomorrow (please)? If not i may goto Sourlands instead. Rocks don't rut.

I was out there today but I probably shouldn't have gone. I did the twisties only, which is usually the driest part, but it was slick all the way through. Not just puddles in the usual spots, but wet throughout. I turned back before I got all the way through the orange, and didn't bother with the other sections. I doubt it will be dry tomorrow.

I tried getting to 6MR this morning and two of the bridges over the Millstone river were still flooded out. I can't imagine the Canal side is close to rideable.

Both causeways were open this morning (8/24). Apparently, the sink-hole that closed Rt. 514 yesterday is fixed since that was open as well. I drove up Canal Rd from 518 to 514 this morning and sections were still pretty wet, so I doubt the trails are good to ride.

Unfortunately, while the last couple of days have been gorgeous, I fear by the time the trails dry out, Irene will come through and flood everything again. I'm bummed since I haven't been on a bike since the DH40 race. 🙁

It actually was pretty good today. Only did the twisties though. Maybe 4 - 5 mud spots. See you all in September!
