Commuting

Those schwable big apples are no light weights but durable as all hell from what I have read. What's cool is they have reflective sidewalls embedded. I can only imagine how heavy the 2.3 versions are. Chris you are prolly right I should of tried those hybrids if I can't get the cascades to work I will go that route. Robin I am a trend setter so no skinny jeans if anything I will bring back the bleached bell bottoms 😀

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of venturing in by bike tomorrow, they closed the walkways as of 6pm tonight, no announcement on when they will reopen.

Finally south side of GW was open! I tried something different today parked at Overpeck county park. I previously scoured the park for parking regulatlations and came up empty so we will see. Maybe Chris came shed some light here. I will keep an update as this makes for easy on off to route 80. Also includes that glorious hill on Ft Lee rd. Ice was in full bloom this am watch a dude go down hard. Happy commuting all!

What the hell happened to my X/C bike

Well being that I don't get on the trails as much as I like, I morphed into a NYC commuter. It is now complete. Now I have one of the fanciest commuter/gravel grinders around 😀

Matt, I did a quick check of the county parks website and didn't see any parking regulations.

It was a really beautiful morning. I've been finding it worthwhile to headout 15-20 minutes early to get the sunrise views, crazy colors in the sky the past few days. The south walk was finally open today.

Cool Chris, was that you in yellow jacket and a back pack in the Overpeck park. Prolly not as I pulled up I beeped. Frost has been super thick eh. Very crisp mornings are a welcome after the summer we had. I tagged with a dude from the bridge who wasn't wasn't real friendly dropped down to greenway and he followed back then took a pass. I stuck on wheel as he tried to drop me. I took the next pass and dropped his unfriendly butt 😀

Steve nice of to reach but I have too much bike stuff and bikes in my garage.

Yeah actually that was me. Damn I can't believe you were there and I missed you, I was keeping an eye out, I didn't hear a beep though. I've been rocking a backpack lately.

Which end do you come in from, Ft. Lee road or Challenger?

I drove through the new Overpeck the other day. Quite nice what they did to it. There's like a zillion parking spots.

Yes I have parked there 6 times once well after dark in the last 3 weeks and no issues. This location makes a great spot for bike commuters who like me need to have parking. Nice easy in and out by bike and car. A nice hill to start your bike commute too 😉

That's a sweet rig there Matty-
(just catching up)

well the day had finally come to test out my full fender commuter. It did not disappoint in fact they kept me dry for almost the whole commute. By mile 10 my feet became mildly soaked. I do have LG shoe covers that are wet/wind but still got a good amount of water. Was not cold so that was good but I need to invest in a good wet weather pant to complete the ride. Any recommendations would help. For some reason I would like wool because it is the magic material.

ok the rant what the fuck is up with only the GW north side walkway being open can someone explain Soundz, Jamnic? I am fing tired of the fing stairs. Soundz give me the link of why and how I can know what side is open on any given day.

Yeah, North Stairway is no fun.
As for the rhyme/reason, I think it's part maintenance schedule, part whim.

Chris- good find on the link- signed up for sidewalk alerts.

I thought I'd posted that link earlier in the thread, my bad if I didn't.

The north being the side open during the week helped kill off my riding before work. I used to head over from the city and ride river road to alpine and back. That was great when the south was open, too much effort to negotiate the north in road shoes every morning.
