Clean Start

WTF did you guys do, walk up the climb? I only had one attempt, 51 miles into a 107 solo day Wonder what I could do on a one hour pleasure cruise like you guys did. Crazy I am almost 3 min off the KOM.

Either way, you freaking crushed @rick81721

Pfft - yes I did walk up the steepest part of that climb - ancient history for me.

Here's something more recent:

Hahahaha, a sourlands climb compared to Fiddlers, sourlands is basically a false flat compared to the steep stuff. No, Zion isnt steep.

Hmm 2012, wunder what I could do on that now.

Duh I was comparing something I dd recently to something I tried 9 months into my cycling adventure. I'm sure you were the fastest you ever were the first year of your riding "career". 🙄

Yeah, but you have all those years of being a super fast runner. Guess you need to hit it up when you up here. Where is your most recent Zion outing?

Veloviewer claims we are currently a draw. I don't think @Robin has updated there in awhile.....

Robin 6 2 (33%) 2 (33%) 2 (33%)

that is 2 ahead, 2 behind, 2 draw. I'll check if i set any PRs on those climbs (which won't be soon)

I haven't been up those climbs in a while...and I won't be any faster.

Two weeks post regime, and 11 or so hours on the bike in the last week. Weighed in at 170.6 today. That is up a couple pounds since last report.
The riding has been making me hungry! And i've had a couple of tasty adult beverages after some hot evenings coaching (substitute) baseball.

Ordered some inexpensive cycling clothing from the large river in south america. the fit through the shoulders is always weird for the tops - and the
straps on the bibs always seem too short (think about it)

So just off the cleanse, I rode RV with @Po123 - and it drained me. just absolutely no go-to energy. Went back last week, and had a blast.
Set some PRs, made all the climbs after hitting the RV side. One funny thing that did happen is, i got stung by a bee in the ankle. It is a weird spot,
with tendons right below the skin - it still hurts/itches after 5 days.

13 of 31 complete for the Halter's July Challenge - yesterday was the first time I really got rained upon. There had been some drizzle, but otherwise two weeks of dry riding.
This might not happen today.

The downtown area of Clinton (two blocks) looks nice. Couple of eateries, coffee shop, bike shop, some art. I've never gone "out" there. Looking to take the spouse
to the Clinton House for some food soon.

This picture isn't bad - but it needs to be cropped -

Curious, do you write down thoughts over a few days and post them or do you just think in single sentence statements?

it's like drawing numbers at bingo.....there is a bunch of stuff in there, loosely related, but comes out randomly.
-
guess i should try to tell a cohesive story once in awhile?

Not say bad, just curious since you typically post this way.

Think i've mentioned this about my writing style before. I write like the reader is already in "my context" rather than
bringing them in. And just when they may have found a fingerhold, I jump to another topic. makes for quite a bit of WTF...
even when i go back and read them later on!

3 weeks post cleanse regime - and 21 days into the July 31/31 challenge #halterscycles

I weighed in post-ride this morning. 167.8 lbs. Damn happy about keeping the weight off, even tho
the food intake is being ramped-up to deal with the increased cycling. Here it is in picture form.

the 22 is June 22nd - and the bars are daily weight through today. there was a little upward trend developing, but that
seems to have been quashed. I suspect the exercise furnace is now lit, as my strava times are improving. Looking forward to seeing what
happens over the next couple weeks with the weight.

On the cycling front - I'm going uphill faster - faster being a relative term. Getting PRs on most of the climbs.
last two days - mtbnj filter.

Damn you @rick81721 !!!!

One i am rather happy about is a sprint on ridge road yesterday. @stb222 had noticed my position, but it was in a semi-organized
pace line.

9 Norm Zurawski 3:00 21.1mi/h

Managed it in 2:55 (21.7mph), and think i left something on the table.

Are we having fun yet? Absolutely. Getting to the point where putting in an effort hurts in a good way.
The endurance is no where near what is needed/wanted - but the legs are feeling stronger. This is a good thing.
I'm just riding, and trying to keep the pace up. No actual training plan at this point. At my last peak, I was riding
to spin class, doing an hour, and riding home (or around with others from the class) - that was a good run.

I'm heading to the desert southwest in a couple weeks. Lots of hiking, probably some trail running, and hopefully
rent a bike.

Some morning light at the top of Hollow Rd.

Climbing the Sourland Ridge is fine on the mid-compact set-up. I might leave the EVO as a compact, with more work coming around the Jugtown Mt / Warren county area.

EVO Update: Dealing with the bottom bracket now. putting gxp crank in. no problem, right!

None of use should be on standard chainrings. If you can spin out a 50/11, then you need to learn to spin faster 😉.

Good job on the climbs, now bury @rick81721
