Chimney Rock Conditions

8/22

All the trees, except for the one on upper red with an unknown location, have been removed. If anyone comes across that one, please post up the spot. Or any others not mentioned.
I started to trim white again. Only got a few trails done but hoping to get back and finish around the pond within the next few days.
Still lots of storm debris down along with a lot of loose rock. Otherwise things are really good. Only downer is the storm washed over the top of the water cross on blue again. We will need to come up with a new plan for that at some point.
Crap, didn't realize I marked the same tree jrzjoe did on Red (think I mistook the tree he marked on blue as being on red).

There's one here, not sure if you saw/got it. I've been trying to get out to get some trees and trimming on red but, well, work and kids, ugh.

Kirt and I got out and did a few hours on orange today. No pics though.

Switchbacks down to the river are clean. Trail near the guardrail is much cleaner. And a spot on the descent was tweaked to ride better.

We would love more help at the park. There’s a lot to do.

Just back from a ride, great dirt, was able to clear some smaller downed trees, here's what's left I didn't have any tools w/ to handle. Hoping to get out to take care of some of these, Tuesday at the earliest, will see.

This is the one on red I messed up and didn't identify before Kirt got out:

This one could end someone if they clipped it w/ speed. Tried to move it, it's pretty rooted still. Of course until I was long gone didn't think of trying to move it so it was across the trail, a bit less dangerous (not sure if it would have budged that way):

Coming down hitech w/ speed this is an obstruction (at least for me as I prefer the line inside of that rock just past it), just looks to be overgrown bush that hedge trimmers could solve:

This small one on red is an easy hop. This was near end of my ride and needed to get back home, lost some time w/ clearing other stuff so didn't give this one a try:

There's one on blue as well that I didn't stop for due to time plus it looks intentional, so didn't wanna undo it, IF it was done on purpose. Right about here on the map below, came around the corner w/ speed and easily hopped it.

Had a little window of time open up today so hopped out to do some work. Good thing since my "maybe I can get out Tuesday" turned into not gonna happen.

Took care of the tree I gave Kirt the location of one day late:

Then did some trimming on upper red. Coming in the downhill direction w/ speed was getting dangerous as the inside corner was completely blocked out vision wise:

trails are mint but yellow closed at Gilbride. Trees down at the bottom over the small wooden bridge. Big ruts on a section of ballfields.

Massive hornets nest near base of that tree. Park had a professional exterminator come spray after a hiker was attacked and had to be treated by EMT's. Still plenty of active hornets around the tree as of this afternoon. So be careful if anyone decides to go pass the caution tape.

So of course I went down not knowing the reason for the closure or about the hornets. Spraying must’ve worked since I didn’t see any. Any idea when the trees will be removed?
