I think the point for me is that if you washed your bike every ride with oil, it would stay clean too. I choose wax so i dont have to clean it every ride.My bike was covered in dust, should have taken a before pic. Just a quick spray of muc-off bike wash, rinse, dry, drip some Silca on and it's clean and ready for the next adventure. So easy to maintain a waxed drivetrain. There is no build up of grime ever on this setup.View attachment 247808
I still prefer her to be clean and noisy vs quiet and dirtyAdditional long term use comments.
This dust has been rough on the wax. While I do keep track of when I replace parts (by mileage value in the strava app by bike, I wish they had hours), I don't have a much level of detail below that other than "in general", so take these comments for what they are worth.
The dust has been rough on wax. I mtb most days in the week and it has obviously been really dry. The rides are between 1-2 hours, 7-18 miles. While the chain doesn't look dirty and always wipes clean, it seems that it gets really noisy on the 3rd ride after drip reapplication. Hot waxing it extends that but not by much. So I am reapplying after every 3rd ride, which seems like a lot. Anyone else experiencing this?
I've been using these 2 with great results, applying on clean chain at the end of rides so it's set up for future ride . Easily get 3 or 4 rides before sounding dry . Jockey wheels and chainring even staying clean . I know the dry conditions are probably swaying this outcome a lil but with some of the new lubes when applied correctly idk how much better waxing is .

Squirt is a wax lube, so it similar to the drip reapply we talking about. You dont need to do the hot wax, even per Silca, it just lasts longerI've been using these 2 with great results, applying on clean chain at the end of rides so it's set up for future ride . I wipe down and reapply the Silca drip after almost every ride, I've never used the hot wax. It's always ready to go the next ride, the drivetrain remains clean, quiet and protected at all times. It's so easy to maintain that way, it takes 5 minutes to do.
I play with the applicator and make sure it’s not wide open. Just a drip over each roller. 2 x through the chain.Do you use anything special to apply the drip wax? I feel like I have a lot of waste every time I apply.

What would happen if you kept it in the fridge? I know when I keep it in my truck in July, it's drips too fast when trying to apply...Same here, I feel like more winds up on my garage floor than the actual chain anytime I do it.
Mentioned an applicator earlier in this thread that works for me.Do you use anything special to apply the drip wax? I feel like I have a lot of waste every time I apply.

Does it actually work well? Seeing mixed reviews, and it appears to be discontinued.Mentioned an applicator earlier in this thread that works for me.
For those that do drip wax, this little applicator makes it easier to drip it on the chain without it going all over the floor.

The amount of squeeze required to get the right amount on the chain takes some practice but it works well for me.Does it actually work well? Seeing mixed reviews, and it appears to be discontinued.
That's unfortunate. 🙁 My searching is showing it in stock at cache.cc but that's an Australian store.
