Cars, it's electric! Do Do Do

Not impressed. What is the depth of a Utah lake, 8-inches?

I was impressed - the people were in upper thigh/waist deep water when the boat pulled out (article says 36" draft needed for the boat).

Not to mention the traction layer (I know the article said hard sand but you don't know what imperfections/soft spots there are) and backing up, stopping and then pulling forward. Good move on the driver not to sit still for long.

By the time we as a whole feel like we are "saving money" by owning electric cars, the benefit will be gone.
I think Hybrids are the worst idea, especially plug-in hybrids with ridiculous e-only range. WTF? Just drive an efficient ICE until electric make sense for your needs. By then, hopefully Hydrogen will make foothold, as the delusion that we can make/support/recycle all these batteries is hogwash.

🙂
i feel this way for both hybrids and CVT's.

Or...$35 at my house.
ya that whole rate thing is kind of important.

“It is, after all, a 9,640-pound, 1,000-horsepower, four-wheel-drive pickup truck that costs six figures, no matter what it’s powered by.”

To me this is GM and electric vehicles....They make things that are visible to the public....since they are closest thing we have to a "national car brand".....but visible doesn't always mean good (in the case of the bolt) or practical.

IONIQ vs mine. Not the first seeing it but first time parking next to one. The Porsche GT color is cool. Otherwise it looks like a big GTI. Materials look like a bmw i3. Just an observation. I think it will look dated quickly. Especially the rear lights. So it’s a ~$55k Hyundai…

I haven't driven anything other than a Tesla. Have you tried any other full electric cars and what was your impression compared to the Teslas that you have owned?

Well ANYTHING is better looking than a Tesla so it wins there for sure.

well feast your eyes on two of them!

@JerseyPete none of these new ones. I only have one distant friend that has a Mach-E. Not in the market for a new car so not interested in going around test driving or for curiosity. I’m not an EV guru just an informed user. OTOH most interesting thing I’ve loaded my car with (water mats). Had to drive 100 miles RT so I wasn’t wasting truck gas money.

No, it's a wacky plug-in-hybrid that can go ~18 miles electric-only. Again, why?
I haven't run the #s, but considering how absolutely horrible a regular Jeep is on gas, it may be worth it?

Although my feeling is gas or electric, Hybrid usually not worth it. I'm also not sure I would want a Dodge/Jeep Hybrid contraption in the long run...
