This is a great example of how my more power you need to go from 9.0 to 8.5 in the 1/4 mile...both cars weigh the same....The Rimac has about twice the power to gain another 13mph of speed. Granted of course that despite awd, these cars are not being launched as hard as they could be with proper tires and suspension that something like a car built for drag racing would use. So with street tires, you need 2000 vs 1000 hp to go from 9.0 to 8.5..

EXPERIENCE
I made this comment on tesla motors club (TMC) just today.

"It’s funny how much tolerance including myself have for Tesla issues and Tesla service. I’m sitting here for model 3 upper control arm fix and I see some dude roll up in a X and to the service advisor, he says hey good to see you again! Lol
-the 3 different Tesla’s we’ve had up to now has visited service more than any other cars we’ve had in the past"

Daily use and drive experience though far outweighs the challenges you get from service. However, they do their due diligence and fix and answer questions and throw in some freebies like my wife's tire patch. Also, I purposely get in all my complaints ASAP just so it can be addressed in warranty period. Appointments are like 3 weeks out. I'm not sure what regular dealer appointment windows look like these days. The 2015 and on Model S is pretty tried and true.
 
I've been on the go go go since back to school but Friday was our longest one day trip in the model 3. Had to drive out to MD for a funeral 🙁

We drive about 9 hours and 450 miles total, like 90% hwy. 4 adults for 1/2 the trip.
Stopped two times for 20 min each.

Totally reasonable charging times and for $0 of energy cost directly to me. (had some supercharging credit from referral)

@one piece crank yes. I'm not sure how much it would have been but better than a tank of gas. I went to double check the credit card on file in the account before we embarked since it's almost 3 years of ownership and first time supercharging. I was actually surprised I had some credit. Forgot about it.

Edit: food for thought - the model 3 and Y still supercharge faster than the S and X with the exception of the latest 2021 Model S's. The older S and X's are caught in the 90kW-150kW range depending on year and battery size. The 'Raven' S and X can go 200kW and that's like mid 2019 to Sept 2021 (just before the plaid).

I have been against electric vehicles for about six years now, and for exactly two reasons. Mining for metals and disposal of used batteries. The line for consumer battery power needs to be drawn somewhere and I believe lawn mowers are where it needs to be. Anything larger requires too much juice and is not environmentally friendly in the least.
 
@one piece crank my best friend who went to VT from western MA this weekend said it cost about $12 to go from nearly 5% to 80%.

So let's talk $/mi
Did $12 buy 200 miles?
If I subtract the $0.42/gal of road tax on fuel, a car that gets 35mpg would use about 5.8 gal at $2.50 per, or $15ish
Not the huge gap with the tax
And they will eventually tax the electrics

That said, I can't wait to destroy the road with my Hummer ev

you'll only pay that much when using super chargers, which charge about double for electricity compared to what you pay at home. I've only used the super chargers because I had credits expiring, not because I've needed them. So turn that $12 to a $6, for 90% of charging needs.
 
99% of my charging is at home. Maybe $2-3 dollars a day between the two of us. 2,000 miles per month? Est $40-$60 per month? Not why we drive electrics but a pro

But batteries can be recycled

EVs are not the most sustainable and end all be all. It’s just what phase we are in now and as battery tech advances we will see less raw materials used. To continue using oil is definitely not sustainable and there is no room for improvement. We’ve maxed out how far a drop of gas will get us. In fact probably taken several steps back. Hindsight, everyone should have a Geo Metro. There is a beautiful one for sale here 😀
 
This was in a Municipal Fleet magazine. Maybe it works for guys that don't leave town, but I can't see any contractors picking these up. 200 mile range? I can do that some days by lunch.
