Car-spotting thread

no honestly, her 09 outback is a mess....needs so much shit, HG is blown, leaking coolant into the cylinder and oil externally, needs struts, brakes, exhaust is shot, like every part of the suspension that has a rubber bushing pretty much....steering rack is leaking...The latter shit I wouldnt mind fixing, the head gaskets....its either I do it and the car will be off the road for weeks im sure at my speed (not something i have ever attempted, so I would have to learn myself how)...or her cousin wants $2000 or $2500 to do it...eh..she deserves a new car....and I told her to get any car she wants....this is what she wanted...so I think i got off cheap.

i made that same comment to my wife last fall 😳, fortunately she pays for her own cars

How many miles? My friend’s forester lasted 240k and is only now starting to deteriorate

Another change on the 67 was to the rear shocks. 68 they staggered the mounts, one in front of the axle tube and one behind. This was for wheel hop on take off.

dampener - there is no weight in the back of these cars, so they wanted to reduce the high speed vibration/low speed bounce (small bump compliance?)
were not in present in the back of my firebird - not sure if they were removed, or just never there.

haha - mine does too  But I usually have to find, negotiate and keep them serviced (and put in fuel whenever I drive it as it's always near E for some reason)

I had to help with negotiations, she found it and paid for it, and fuels it (we don't swap cars bc with almost a full ft height difference too much effort to adjust everything) i will be doing the maintenance and repairs once the 5 years included expires.

In similar news, the trans on my Buick Enclave blew up in Maine where my daughter has it for Co-Op. Estimate to fix $4500. Uhhh, nope. Remotely buying a CPO Crosstrek.
Didn't that already have a trans problem? Gm trans, the gift that keeps on giving...

Liking for the new cross trek not the blown tranny....

Cpo deal seemed nice.. 7 years and 100k mile warrenty.... I saw where the spark plugs are on this 3.6 engine... Jesus h christ... Pretty sure the motor has to come out to do these.

After 16 years now I have known my wife and driven her dead 2.5i powered outbacks... Nice to drive one that actually has some balls

The apple carplay on my gmc truck acts differently (buggy) than the one in the Caddy.
do they do any updates to the infotainment systems in these things as a service,
or do you have to complain?

Probably have to complain, and then they try to charge you for it

In better news, took the M out for some much needed exercise this evening. Has been garaged for several weeks due to all the snow and salt. Ran out to Myersville through the Great Swamp to Casa Maya for Mexican take out. As it “turns” out the full stretch of Long Hill - NewVernon -Myersville road is freshly paved. Nice and empty at night. Just sayin’ 😉
