Cancellara, Your better than that!

Geez, when I read about these "bike engines" a few weeks ago I thought it was a joke. When I saw your post I was already planning a "Does Halters have it in stock?" reply!

After watching the clip I'm just sad. I hope it's not true but I'm not optimistic based on the evidence.

Al the first thing I said to Tommy was ... "Holy Sh!t, where can I get one!"
If Jdog has em' in stock let me know! Cancellara is the world TT Champion too. It was strange how he was a bust at the Tour of California last week.

RC ... :getsome:

I don't buy it. I would think it would be fairly easy to check the bikes before each race to make sure there's nothing funny going on. I mean it's not like a little piece of micro-chip .. you just have to take off the seatpost to see. Plus that thing is loud like as heck .. I would think other riders would notice. I guess we will find out now as he does more time-trials.

I know absolutely nothing about bike racing, but occasionally have found myself watching it for a little while when flipping channels. I've always assumed there was some sort of bike inspection either pre race or post race. I never thought of it as for cheating in this way, but maybe in someones effort to have a super light bike at the risk of their safety or the safety of others.

When the video started I thought to myself this outa be good in a funny kind of way until they started showing the clips and I was thinking if it's true he might be the most blatant cheater in history.

In Pro bike racing as far as I know there is not a bike inspection. As for the noise it would make when turned on, these guys are not doing a Sunday ride with their buddies. There's 100's of people cheering, a slight buzz most likely go unnoticed. I'm not saying Cancellara is a cheat, but watching the video one hasta go hmmmmm.

It would explain alot about those two races, especially how he stays seated on that huge cobblestone climb and that guy behind is giving all he's got and cancellera is pulling away. Then he cant win any stages at TOC, seems fishy

You guys don't actually believe this stuff do you? Seriously? Did anyone see there's a bear at 6mile?

-Jim.

Um, speechless. This has been talked about for a few weeks now. I'm surprised anybody actually believes it. Dropping Boonen on the Muur? That is called form, power, and smart racing. Kick up the cadence by 20rpm and put those redwood quads to work. Fabian is a powerful rider and pretty darn big compared to the rest of the pro peloton. Seeing someone with that kind of power who isn't a pure sprinter may be weird, but it's not cheating.

OK...I watched it. I haven't gone looking for other rumblings in the bike news world...Yet. The P-R footage didn't convince me. He looked like he shifted gears to me. Pulling away from others while seated on cobbles is not strange. It's actually the easier way.

The Flanders footage did make me say, "Holy Shit!". That looked like it could have been something other than a shift. His finger movement and length of time doing it was odd. Watching him pull away from Tom Boonen, who looked like he was turning himself inside-out, while remaining in the saddle was freakish to watch.

I'm convinced of nothing but VERY intrigued.

To help others understand:
Bike inspection is done at pro events. The details are sketchy but the regulations involve dimensions and weight. They do not take the bikes apart or inspect for odd stuff. With Di2 on many bikes, there are buttons and wires all over the place. Something like this could be overlooked.

dude i know NOTHING about racing or road bikes, with that said the way he accelerated was very strange. it looked like he hit a nitrous boost!

It had pretty pictures and subtitles, it has to be true😛

I love the "he speeds up while seated" part. Like you can't put out any power seated. Idiots. Don't these people have anything better to do than try to destroy the reputation of an extraordinarily gifted athlete? Did Landis put this out?

Cancellara's reaction (if quoted acurately) is the natural reaction of an innocent person. He simply says it's not true; rather than attacking the credibility of his accusers like Armstrong has done for years. I really don't want this to be true 🙂

there was one statement he made though that is probably false .. i.e. that he doesn't have any batteries on his bike .. of course we all know what he meant

Cheating sucks. But in the various sports I have been involved in, it never ceases to amaze me with some of the awesome stuff cheaters come up with.

Taylor Phinney must be using this too, since he won the U23 Paris-Roubaix... TWICE!

What is entertaining was getting ready next to the Fly V Australia van at Somerville. I heard one of them say, "... and we don't have to take blood tests today!" Oddly enough, they won...
