Camp Cromwell property

make sure to also check out stop sign trail, 2nd right on either gravel fork and the entry has a, you guessed it, stop sign (named correctly in TF)

these 2 trails have had the most work and it shows (in a good way)

depending when you ride happy to meet up and give a tour
You're missing the best fun mile, I used to also ride counter, but nowadays 100% clockwise. Here's a pic of the start of Shed.

More manual labor! Project Stop Sign 180 has begun. I am working backwards on this.

This is a long game. A very long game. I imagine it will take at least 3 passes over each section to get it right. Just another thing I will chip away at over the next month or more doing the first pass. For reference, this is what it looks like before I work on it:

Rode Stop sign and Shed last night, awesome job! That dirt is like baby powder right now.

Stop sign is fine IMO. I think it's riding very well but that is much more solidly cemented in time.

Shed is garbage right now. Looks amazing. Rides like total shit. Up in Woodstock, VT they/ve closed 1 of their highlight trails at Mount Peg because it is so dry they cannot reshape the berms. I kinda feel like we should do the same. But then, I don't know if it's worth the effort.

Back at it today with J, a new addition Andy, and me. We worked on the outer eastern “climbing trail”. Goal here is to make it a bit smoother and less pitchy for climbing and for it to eventually connect to the top of Shed. This was made much easier with the addition of probably the most generous donation to Jorba that anyone has ever made. J has been working on this behind the scenes and it was delivered today. I’ll say this thing is sick, it will be a complete game changer for how we do things and has already altered some plans. I can’t thank John Sisto enough for this. And J for helping make this happen and digging today. And Andy for coming out.

Hoping to get more people out helping with dirt moving and finishing within the next few months.

John had recently discovered the work we had been doing at Cromwell and wanted to support that effort while honoring his late brother Don. When he pressed me on how he could help, I told him that I had seen some pro builders using this machine: SC 75

This was a pie in the sky request, but John reached back a few days later and asked me "where should I drop it off?" . I was floored.

This machine quickly changes what we are able to do in a very positive way.

I ask that others who are inspired to help financially, please make a donation of any size here:

And the classic photo of @Kirt who was admittedly skeptical of this machine before he used it.

Thanks Kirt, was nice meeting you.

Is there harm to ride the shed trail with all the loose powdery dirt on top? Was hoping for rain, but this last storm didn't get to us and will be another week before rain is forecasted. Just didn't want to mess up all the great work you've all been doing. Planning to get out later to today the enjoy the funnest park in Somerset.

In the words of former president Obama, "No...maybe...it's classified."

Mostly no, but the features are getting ground to paste already. This was expected but it still sucks. The berms are easy enough to reshape. The little kickers and the tabletop will be harder. That said, if we get 1 of those 4" deluges, half that thing will wash away and then nobody will have ridden it otherwise.

So in summary: go get at it. Enjoy whatever awaits you there!

P.S. Every time I start to think I'm figuring out the Cromwell layout, I look at everyone else's Strava maps and realize that I'm still missing half of it. At least I know how to get to the top of Stop sign and Shed. 😁

I showed a guy around last night and said, "Well if you come back in a month half this shit I told you will be changed."

Now that Jorba has this dirt mover, would it make sense to try to import dirt? There are websites like dirtmatch.com to pair up people getting rid of dirt with people that need it. I assume that dirt from anywhere else is better than the natural dirt at Chimney Rock 🙂

We are well on the path to getting 2 loads of dirt brought in - 1 each for Shed & Stop. We've also discussed a 3rd for lower Western but that's less of a priority right now.

They’re actually pockets of really good dirt
