In other words...no.

I don't believe that there's a moral obligation for the athlete to reach a different scientific conclusion than the people who investigated this to create the rules in the first place.
There is a difference between fairness and cheating. The athlete followed the set rules, so no cheating happened here IMO. Are the rules fair? I don’t think so. They put biological women at a disadvantage.

I'm not surprised that she is. Then SHE should let her voice be known to those who promote her sport. It's her fight. Women's fight. Not a man's.
My daughter thinks it’s not fair, and if things stay status quo it’s only a matter of time until this directly affects her. Her fight is my fight.

This is exactly my point. Your daughter, as a competitor, has skin in the game. And her opinion should matter. And I hope she voices it loud and clear. And your support for her should be commended. And if more female competitors feel they same, which many obviously do, they should do the same. But what's not needed, is those who comment purely due to political, or other non sports related leanings. It's always been my opinion that keeping politics, religion, and other non sports specific ideals out of the conversation, leads to the best results. It both delutes, and complicates the argument for scientific and fact based decisions, and helps to prevent fair decisions from being made. Which was supposedly the aim of the original post ? But by the way he went about it, I'm kinda guessing not.

Yup, I understand. I was replying to a post suggesting that competing in compliance with rules that were established to outline the conditions for that person to compete was cheating. That's nonsense. Argue the rules, don't call the person disgusting or a cheater.

Also feels like some people are using the women's athletics debate to justify bigotry. Case in point this person who is cool with calling humans "it" and finds showing the bare minimum of compassion to other humans to be "ridiculous".

They are both equally ridiculous, yes,

There are many women crying foul, case in point the entire NCAA swimmer debacle. Women are in a tough spot though, it’s difficult to disagree without being called a bigot, anti-trans, etc. Its the reality of the society we live in. My daughter mentioned this in school and was immediately corrected by her teacher on why she was “wrong”. I told her school was the not the right venue to even try to discuss this.

But some want gender identity to supercede fairness in sports competition, which is inherently wrong.

lets say they gender identify female, and happen to be very competitive, and very good at a sport.
it isn't the other way around.

To be fair, while her presentation is good, she isn't saying she is agreeing with the rules. Lets be real, BWR is small potatoes, let's wait to see how this plays out at a premier woman's event like the MTB world cup or the woman's world tour, etc.
She’s already race euro cx.

The controversy will get worse before it gets better. I have read the trans point of view and they refuse to believe any kind of science until the facts are without a doubt undeniable. Let them race, everyone smile, then when former dudes get a full podium the whole thing will be so absurd then maybe a better compromise will be made.

Does anyone really wonder why no women on the board are participating in this thread?

Complete lack of respect for human beings, this bull shit about being a "real" woman and let's also not forget about tits because there you have it... I am defined by my tits and crotch.

To those who have shown respect and are trying to have an open and honest conversation about this subject, thank you.

To the rest of you, fuck off.

Well if I said breasts would that be better? I did look at all the comments on BWR’s IG before this and he profile as well. IMO he/she really believes he is a woman. Austin races at a very high level but does have many female traits. I watched a Joe Rogan podcast and it basically suns it up…if Mike Tyson wanted to identify as a woman should he be able to box in the women’s class? Austin may have me tal issues or may not but the promoters are the ones who need to be held accountable. It’s really no different than politicians trading stocks and options based on rules and decisions they make for i sider tradi g financial gain but until it’s illegal then it’s not.

As much as we say men and women are equal it’s obvious that biologically they are not and sports is the best indicator of that. Just compare men’s/women’s marathon records, or switch it around and see the agility in women’s gymnastics vs men’s. I still find it interesting that in track and field men wear full length shorts/topd yet they parade the women around in bikini bottoms with their ass cheeks hanging out. Why is that ok? Why isn’t Usain Bolt forced to wear a bikini bottom like the women?

As a parent of 2 elite track and field athletes that train their asses off, this is bullshit, I'm sorry. My daughter in particular has shed a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get to where she is. Would it be right for another elite athlete who has transitioned to race against her? She would be furious, as would I. The USATF and NCAA need to pull their heads out of their asses, testosterone levels are not an accurate indicator of anything. If you went through puberty as a male, you've deposited muscle in a way that can't be walked back with all the hormone treatment in the world. Its related to hip geometry, etc., which is completely different between men and women. This is science, pure and simple.

Its a free country, and you should be able to do whatever you need to for happiness and fulfillment, as long as its not at the expense of someone else's happiness. We all can't have what we want, there are sacrifices with everything, and if you transition from male to female, one of those sacrifices is you shouldn't be competing with the biological women. Its not right, and just not fair to every biological woman who is busting their asses and making sacrifices to be the best at what they're training for.
I fear woman's sports are dead

I never stated my opinion on the subject... Just addressed the language being used and the vulgarity and inhumanity in which this is being talked about.

But sure... classic example... Mike Tyson as a woman yada yada...

Fuck off.

So many high tech ways male athletes use to take and hide PED to gain an edge, meanwhile all you need to do is check the female box on the registration form. Pretty slick tactic.

Yes, that's definitely what's happening and I'm totally considering it myself. Just have to go through 24 months of lowered testosterone levels, check that box, and I'm in! Then face the ire of national level press and serve as a political punching bag. All sounds like a pretty slick tactic.

I don't disagree that people should, in general, have some sort of moral compass that should guide them to make responsible and fair decisions. But you seem to be suggesting that every trans or non binary person is incapable of having said moral compass. Which is no more fair, than this particular athlete deciding to compete in this event. So, is your real issue with this particular athlete doing something you think unfair ? Or with trans, non binary people in general ?

Not at all. Just the biological males who are competing unfairly with women. This thread is about one person.

So now you are saying biological males that went through puberty as male have no advantage over women? The spin is getting amusing.
