Bring a Trailer - OMFG or On Topic

Not sure if you saw my post in the car spotting thread, but people are spending $200,000+ on building custom fox bodies....they are now making custom chassis that you can essentially bolt the bodies too......I had 4 of them, they were fun and I always will have a soft spot for them.....but the prices of nice ones now is a little mind blowing.

I never thought they would get valuable like the 60s mustangs....especially because from 79 to 93 they were the same car with interchangeable parts and they made a TON of them. There was the cobra for a year, but very little in terms of "special" versions....no K code hipo, cobra jets, boss 302/429, mach 1, etc, etc....Whereas my 67, they made alot of for 1 year....but 67/68 was it, then they totally changed the body style...they could be optioned a million different ways.

Just goes to show you what happens when people get older and have money....."thats the car i had when I was a teenager....I want one again, but in perfect shape. "
I saw that, and I'm really surprised, since I see around 2-3 originals on the road a week, some pristine and some rat-rods. I know of a couple of houses where they're just sitting in the driveway being worked on. They were fun cars for sure, and also a great modding platform because of the over abundance of parts. Its just shocking to see them selling for these prices now. The kid at the gym bought a rat for a song, resprayed it, and dropped a monster of a motor into it, sounds amazing.

As I get older I guess I have a different philosophy. I have next to zero nostalgia for the cars I grew up with, the exception being unattainable supercars like the 959 or F50. If anything, I like the cars that came before me from the 60's because the styling from that era was so iconic. If I had money to burn, I'd get a restomoded Camaro, Mustang, or Vette. Cars from the 70s, 80s, and 90s are meh. I want a modern car, with modern performance, modern reliability, and modern speed.

At this point, Elon is either offending or alienating so many people, his presence alone is going to negatively impact sales.
