Body armor?

Does anyone wear any kind of "body armor" when riding. I have been thinking of wearing knee and shin pads and maybe elbows. I ride ringwood and am always hoping i don't wipe out to bad.

I was wearing knee and shin pads when it was colder not so much now but the other day I wish I had.
It depends on how hard you will ride that day and your skill level.

Pads are for sucka's! Just playing, I always wear knee and elbow pads. I have like 3 sets in my trunk at all times. I have alot of metal screws, rods and plates in my legs and arms from a motorcycle accident 10 years ago. This maybe why I wear pads? I found that the 661 Evo knee pads are great but the elbow pads suck. They keep falling down to my wrist. I like the fox launch elbow pads best.

It's all in your head...just ride and be confident. I don't wear any body armor and Ringwood is my playground.

Check your body to see which sections have the most bruises and scars. Then get the correct body armour to match 😀 For me it's always the knees.

Check out the POC stuff.

It is meant for bikes but I have been using it for moto for 2 years.

The stuff is expensive and amazing. I know I would be in far worse shape w/o it.

661 Kyle Strait knee pads. They're cheap and stay in place. Used to wear 661 knee/shin guards, but they slid around.

Here's my thinking.... you ride for YOU not for anyone else. Who cares what anyone else thinks? If you feel more confident wearing it, then wear it. If you want to protect your body, wear it. If you get hurt, YOU are the only one feeling the pain and paying the doctor bills. If you want the added protection, wear it. I love body armor BTW, very sexy.

On that note, I will wear different "outfits" depending on where I will ride and how "balanced" I feel that day. My husband was crashing quite a bit and started wearing some of my armor and he feels more confident and I feel better knowing he is better protected.

I never wear it, but I see a few guys wear it locally here (near Philly) and the only thing I ever think when I see them is how few bruises they probably have compared to me! So I agree with Ted and Arwen's Mom -- if it gives you more confidence when you ride, go for it. The only thing I'd add is that it will feel really hot in the summern so bear that in mind and make sure to carry extra water (like they usually say you need about a bottle per hour but you may need a little more because you might sweat more.)

Not really a question of confidence for me. I now( thanks to getting hurt at a fire) have two bad knees. I just want to try to protect them as much as I can.

I've been using the POC soft knees for about a year and just got their potty lid. Good stuff for sure.
