Made a last minute decision to ride outside since it seemed most of the random icy spots were melting around here. Still had to be aware of the corners and narrowing road shoulder areas but it was manageable and temps were good considering how it's been out, and how the next 7-10 days look.
Lungs felt pretty good but legs were a bit tired from yesterday's indoor interval session. Plus still riding roads on the gravel bike (on purpose) since I am still too lazy to take the road bike off the trainer. But I also feel like its best to ride the gravel bike with disc brakes when the roads are gritty from salt and it just feels more stable and plush riding 42s.
i would say that florida riding in january feels like cheating for BIYF purposes...but the wind is a REAL thing...oh, and did i mention these roads are flat...and long...and straight!
also got in a bonus kayak paddle in the afternoon with my son and my niece....super cool stuff
Tuff followin that one for scenery, but I got out for an on call stay close loop. Combined with lunch. Squishy squishy all over here, stayed on da roads.
I headed over to the local woods again after work. I fully expected the trails to be a shit sandwich and that I would have to grind out an hour on a fat bike on the road. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could get a trail ride in without it being a mudfest or doing damage to the trails. I think the fact that the ground was frozen solid when we got the rain a few days ago let most of the rain run off and not soak in.
