Biscotti Madness

the fork feels like pudding? geez! I mean I know im in the company of alot of rigid fork riders that would probably smoke me on my FS bike. But for me, this would be like if we took your 705 and mounted it upside down. Would drive me bonkers.

I would def. match the air pressure settings first. Then on your SS bike...turn the rebound knob all the way to one side or the other and count the clicks. Return it to where it was and match that setting on your geared bike. That should get you close.

105? I think something was missed in the translation. I bought sram cranks when we did the team order. I may be trading them in for the BB30 stuff though.

i missed that. You said sram stuff once but I assumed you ment drivetrain. I wouldn't have been bugging you about it if I knew that...😱

God, I hope you haven't overlooked something like the EBB rotation angle.

EBB rotation angle is about the last thing I would think about. The geared bike is whatever Jay set it up as. The SS is 3 o'clock (drive side) because the chain is too long and I had to put it there to get the tension I needed for the 19t cog.

Hehe...you took my bait. :wedgie:

I'm gonna stop reading now. See you on Sunday! :hysterica

On a more tangible topic, have you given any thoughts to cross?

I have a cross bike. At some point I'll look for those instructional videos Ben posted and try to learn to get on/off the bike properly. Then maybe show up at a Jim session which is nearby. Then hopefully try a race, maybe 2. Nothing more than that at this stage.

honestly, i think a fly landed on your ass. next time you ride the SIR you'll be weighted just fine. 😀

Fork pressure on the geared bike: 60
Fork pressure on the SS bike: 100

I fixed that and made 2 of the 3 dials the same. The SS has 1 dial which is frozen stiff. Putting it in the same position on the geared bike doesn't give it the same feel. So as I've always found to be the case, 2 different forks have 2 different behaviors. The geared bike's fork is much more stiff now. The 60 was way too low.

I took them both for brief spins, and the Ergons may actually make the geared bike feel more comfy. I may need to try them on the geared bike as well.

Tires will also be swapped out when I get around to it. No real time to go up and ride another lap so I'm just sticking with the SS.

I'm just glad you are tapering.🙂

I didn't have to feel like ass for the rest of the day.

P.S. My bike felt fine

P.P.S. I think you got that flat in the first mile and then it was a foregone conclusion that your bike feels like shit.

I was playing with the lockout on your fork sunday. Did not move. Figured you liked it like that. 😕

Nope. That was how Spence sold it to me. It's almost like he locked it out then took off the knob and put it on so it couldn't turn.

It works, whatever.

No biking today. I think my taper may have been a bit too long. I'm ready to go and sick of riding an hour and change or not at all. This has been a bit of a tough week working from home and trying to limit time on the bike. Not even 4 hours this week. Add an easy hour tomorrow and the race and it will be 6 hours maybe. I'm itching for more. Next Tuesday and Thursday I'm probably going to ride 8 hours alone. Maybe I'll try to hit 20 hours next week to get he lead out. Or not.

Leo the fast Marty's guy registered. So it will be a tough day. As I understand it, he had a mechanical of some sort last week. The field looks pretty small, somehow my class is shrinking in size. It used to be the biggest, now it's not even close.

why such the long taper? You did do anything close to this for other races, did you?

Let it be known: We all rode more than Norm this week.

I'm surprised this is the case...I'm sorry it doesn't turn Norm...I didn't do anything crazy to it that I can remember

It's an experiment. Traditionally it's accepted that you can get away with 2 tapers a year. It's also not a bad idea to let your body catch up on rest a bit before you hammer out the summer. As it is now, I'm sure I didn't need to taper, per se. But it will help me more at the end of the H2H series when I'm lining up with Vreeland and the Bulldog posse. So this is a dry run to see how it goes. My result last weekend was certainly good.

Please, don't feel like you should apologize. I don't know if it's frozen or what. But the bike works for me. I've been seriously concerned at how I can continue to ride the geared bike when I seem to go so much faster on this thing. The bike rocks, and you gave me a super deal on it. I'm trying to do it justice when I race with it.

While I have not been tapering, my hours have been down but the intensity has risen. I have enjoyed pummeling myself the last few weeks but I look forward to being able to get out and just ride. I have the next few weeks for that. I imagine this could be a bit of what your going through my man.😀
