Biggest loser

1700 calories yesterday. Family killed my ride plans, so I split wood for an hour instead. Boys night didn't materialize so I commuted to work this morning by bike. 25 miles and 1:37 ridden by 6:08. I plan to take a longer route home. Now if I can avoid eating way too much today that'll be awesome. 174.0 this morning.

It's addicting and well worth it. I can't deal with all the personalities at the gym though so I built my own very well equiped home gym lol
I cancelled my gym membership, bought a set of Bowflex adjustable dumbbells and do circuits M/W/F from the program I'm following in my family room. Once the garage organization project is complete, will be moving exercise area there and adding a flat bench. There are extra credit workouts available to do in the gym, in addition to the circuits, but I can modify enough to do it at home.

Damnit. Now I'm looking at gym equipment for home. Those adjustable dumbbells look good. Would you recommend? If I had that and a bench I think it could keep the wife and I happy for a bit.

Yes I would recommend them. Got the stand with it too. Picked them up at Costco for a special member price that was cheaper than anywhere else. And they were in stock on the floor where we shop. I've seen them on FB marketplace.

Depends on your space and how much you want to spend I have those dumbells I bought them much later on though. If you have the space buy a barbell and 255 lbs of plates usually you. An get them together as a set for about 300 bucks and get a bench cost depends on what you get and a power cage or some sort of rack less than 300 bucks again all depends on your space. With those 3 things you can literally work every muscle you can imagine for under 1000 bucks those dumbells are good but even those will run you over 400 and significantly limit what you can do with them within a year you will find with those dumbells that for alot of stuff it's not enough weight

E2M program Round 6, Wk 1, Day 1

Diet
So last week, I came off the rails and lacked discipline because it was an off week of E2M between rounds. In the past, I stuck to the plan. However, my wife's birthday was last Thurs and we were heading to Cape May for the weekend. It was a stressful week at work, went out for dinner Wed, had sushi on Thurs, and in Cape May over the weekend, cookies, pastries, FFs, beers were all consumed. There was ice cream and cake at home before we left. So totally off plan for a few days. We've been very good for the last 10 months. Back on plan this morning with the new round beginning.

Exercise
Took it pretty easy last week as the 5k race was Friday night at 7:30pm. Did the circuits and the C25K training in the days before, but eating like crap, drinking beers and not sleeping all that well had me feeling tired. Hadn't run a 5k in quite some time. Mid-pack results with a time of 32:22, 5/8 in 50-50 age group, 36/50 male, 60/105 overall. Dealt with a sore knee and hip through the weekend. Did the circuit this morning and was careful not to aggravate it more. Will be doing more spin bike sessions, but will keep running in rotation.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
10/31/22 (current weight =184.8
Diff: weekly up 10.2, total lost = 50.6
Surprised, not surprised, but know what I have to do. Not going to make any excuses, but this is what happens when you go off the rails. Not enough sleep, too much sugar fill foods, too many carbs (beer), not enough exercise, resulting in too many calories in vs. out, and not following the intermitted fasting window. Going to weigh myself each day and watch what I eat, and when. Exercise will be ramped up again this week.

My wife didn't weigh herself this morning. We know what we have to do and are committed to doing it.
E2M program Round 6, Wk 1, Day 6

Diet
Back on track with meals. Did break my fast a few mornings after exercising as my stomach was growling. Maybe a little too much peanut butter here and there, and an extra handful of cashews. Had 1 beer watching the Phillies, and there may have been a couple of 3 Musketeer minis that someone had to bring to work because the neighborhood kids didn't steal the candy bucket. Shared a bowl of popcorn last night while watching House of Dragon. Not sure what the cheat meal will be this afternoon. Might just grill at home.

Exercise
Circuits M/W/F with spin bike warm-ups. Walk/runs on T/Th. Started making stretching after a habit this week as my right knee has been bothering me. Back in '12, met with an ortho who said I may have a meniscus tear, but let's try PT 1st. PT said I had weak hips from cycling, so let's do these exercises and stretches. Worked then, so trying it again. I just got new running shoes, but stopping in the local running store to maybe get something else. Riding local this morning, then Wiss or Brandywine tomorrow.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
11/05/22 (current weight =176.8
Diff: weekly down 8, total lost = 58.6
Consistency and discipline was my focus this week. Consistent with activity and meals, the discipline was lacking with excessive snacking.

Wife weighed herself yesterday and is still hovering around 124lbs +/- and down 40lbs total.

Commuted to work and back a slightly longer way yesterday. Kept the intake pretty good but a couple little treats put me around the 2000 calorie mark yesterday. 172.4 this morning. Down 4.2 this week so far and down 34.2 since 1/3.

so I said I wasn't going to post - but I really want to give a shout out to @JDurk for his motivation and support...

Earlier this year I tried to count calories/exercise to lose the weight I've gained. I didn't see much budge on the scale, felt frustrated and well..I read posts by @JDurk and it was something I was interested in - especially the IF. I emailed him several times with a bunch of questions about E2M. I hate cooking and finding meals is not something I enjoy.

I went to my PCP and allergist recently. My snoring/sleep apnea and allergies are out of whack - some of it due to my poor choices of food/drink. So this was the tipping point for me to start the program - which is similar to Whole30 (which I've done/elimination diet) combined with IF. The sign up for the program was just at the right moment - although 8 weeks will bring me through the holidays.

I know that I can't have "just one" of something sweet. And counting calories in/out doesn't work for me, mostly because I think my numbers are off.

Started last Monday (Halloween). Having no candy was a little tough. And no chips/snacks or bevie at a party Friday. I'm doing ok with my IF window mostly because I don't have "lunch" at school until 11-11:30.

I've been doing something active each day this week, which isn't far from the norm...run, CrossFit, ride.

I weighed myself yesterday and took measurements to compare to Monday, when I set the baseline. Granted, I know the first week is a flush of the system, but what I saw is motivation to keep going. I think I'll reach my weight goal by the end of this challenge, plus hopefully have my congestion/inflammation reduced and snoring better.

Week 1 - down 4.2 lbs

This is so great to hear. The program is pretty straight forward with the meal plan and exercise. And it's something that is sustainable once you hit your weight goal. Keep it up and keep us posted, if you want.

Recovered nicely from that slip after getting sick in October. First time at 185.0 lbs or less since September 2020. Still looking for another 10ish lbs before my surgery next month anticipating bumping back up a bit with no exercise for 3ish weeks post op then looking to do "clean" slow bulk for 2-3 months back up to 190.

And again. I had a pretty good day yesterday with a ride and a few extra calories. 176.4?!?!?! WTF. Scale almost went out the window. I know my body is holding onto a little extra at the moment. Hopefully the next few days it will normalize.
