Biggest loser

I've been back to work since the 1st. I can't do much yet, even walking around the facility gets me winded so any cardiovascular exercise is out for the time being. I'm going to try some weights tonight if I have enough energy left, maybe I can do that. I'm just so wiped out lately from the littlest amount of activity. I've been eating normal human sized dinners instead of binging and eating lighter breakfast and lunch so I don't feel like I have to pack it all in at night. I'm also doing slightly damp January, meaning I'm not drinking at all during the week and don't plan to on the weekends but I won't be upset if I don't stick to it. We'll see how things work out.

Since the point of this thread (for me at least) is motivation, let me be the first to say - SHUT UP and hit the weights tonight. Just go. Pick up some dumbbells and MOVE YOUR BODY. I can almost guarantee, you’ll feel better afterwards. While you’re at it, do 10 mins of cardio. It’ll be so worth it- even if you feel like shit. You’ll feel less shitty each workout. I promise you.

This is the plan I bought into

Yesterday was cold, wet and windy. After 2 minutes on the bike I had to ask myself “why am I out here, this sucks”. Quick thinking led me to two points:

- It’s only January, this won’t get any easier
- I have ridden in way worse

After this I made a point to stay out for an hour, but after 25 minutes I was perfectly comfortable and got 1:38 min. I have to keep that attitude up!

Week 1 - Down Five Pounds
Now I know a lot of this is water weight from three Xmas dinners plus tons of food on New Years, but it is a great mental boost. This first week went fast, a touch over 13 weeks to go for me.

I should also note - the only fluids I am taking in are water and black coffee. Lots of water.

Yup, with one addition, intensity makes the body switch metabolic sources as well as time and fuel availability. Glucose mostly for most efforts, until its gone. low intensity efforts can metabolize fat>glucose and make your glycogen stores last much longer. High intensity efforts when glucose is gone do use fat, but also break down protein, which is a crap way of making energy in a destructive manner. A true bonk is switching over to protein metabolism because youre going harder than fat can keep up with.

To compliment how and when i eat, i ride accordingly. In my mind that means ride so their is little adaptation and i can bounce back quick. I almost never want to feel like the life was drained from me....volume>intensity. That said, one of the misnomers being that the body runs on a single source of fuel (ie fat or carbs).

I appreciate the push, lack of motivation isn't what's slowing me down here. I'm going to do some weights tonight but I can't do cardio if I can't breathe. I'm just going to have to work harder once I get better in order to catch up with all y'all. I had started back up with trainer road before I got sick and plan to continue once I get a little better.

10 days. I'm still not well but I need to work. Covid sucks, this is worse than anything I've had before and it just won't break. I can only imagine how bad it would've been if I wasn't vacced.
