What are you 15? We may live in an over-medicated world, but auto-immune disorders are dead serious and people die from them. You may be able to fight off these things on your own, but not everyone can.

39 in three weeks. Docs been saying I'm a deadman for about 15 yrs now. I rip ticks off sometimes and their head stays in and pops out all pusslike a few weeks later. They say i have two types of lyme, maybe lupus, maybe graves syndrome whatever blah, blah , blah. If you can,t live thru it then die like your supposed to....

If you have discoid lupus you can probably live without much worry and meds. If you have systemic lupus, well, I hope you're prepared to live and die by your words. Most people don't refer to discoid lupus, the skin-based one, as lupus. They're really two different diseases. Again, no arguments about this being an overmedicated world, but don't make light of the serious diseases people you may know live with.

Clearly Hardtail70 is of proud Wookie blood, of which the medical community knows very little. It is fully possible that due to Gleaming Circuit Technology (Halford Technologies) he may actually be immune to these things. Stranger things have happened.

Ooops 38 yo.(bad keystroke). Anyway, lupus was just one of the things the last rhumatologist/neurologists said among many that i remember. The point is it's BS and( back to the thread) I've had the fairy tale lyme for 15/20 yrs if they're right and I'm fine. Fever and time will win every time until you reach your genetic break point then cancer, lupus, out of control bus whatever will take me and i won't so much as take an aspirin. Just ride and pull ticks off when you see em, no big deal.Gotta go, I have a bullseye rash and my ears are startin to bleed:rofl:

I saw Danzig this winter at Nokia. Glenn had a broken shoulder and did the whole set in a sling. The sling was BLACK. Can't keep him down. That sling was evil.

Ahhh...... Hardtale70..young and probably immune to everything...NOT... Listen Cowboy..We're not blowin smoke up your ass, just informed and concerned. We're not your Daddy and you obviously wouldn't listen to him anyway, but we're just giving info that might help you. Fuk, might even keep you around for the next ride. Spiders and ticks, as small as they are, will kick our ass harder than you every imagined. Just because you hear about crazy stuff in the Amazon dosn't mean their little cousins aren't here. They are! Millions of years before we even though about riding bicycles. You're (we're) not invincible!

Dude ,I'm pretty sure I'm older than you. Again I've tested pos for 2 mybe 3 types(?) of lyme since maybe the early 90s. Many, many bullseyes and multiple ring necrosis. Been tossed around a few times by many of the "best" drs and specialists and told i was basically a cadaver. I just call a lawyer and get signed out AMA.Never took any drugs or antibiotics yet curiously I'm still here and will be for a long time. Walk it off you crybabies! I will say though that the 1st spider was an ass kicker.I survived a fatal temp for 90 mins then was buried in ice. BTW I'm preety hard to drop on a ride for a dead guy:rofl:

A lot of you are missing the main thing with any disease...how do you fuel your body, research shows that the average american eats really badly...even if they think they are eating well. With all the pesticides and additive chemicals, most people's bodies will not hold up!

Look at some of the weight lifters/body builders that have been in hardcore accidents, all the medics have claimed that nayone else would have died in the wrecks...

If you treat your body right and fuel it correctly it will take care of you!!!

I had lyme about 15 years ago, got treated and never had a problem. Some doctors say if you get it you have it. My doctor at the time(he's retired now) said that if caught early enough and treated there is usually no problem.

Just my 2 cents!

Hospitalzed!!!!!

Yes, I am currently at the Hunterdon Medical Center for a nice 5 day stay due to Lymes. I was treated with amoxicillin for 5 weeks after I found out that I had Lyme. The day after I stopped the treatment, I got sick again. They put me on Doxycyclene for a week and remained sick the entire week. I started having double vision on Wednesday night and was taken to the emergency room. I was given blood tests, a CT scan, a spinal tap, a MRI and a chest xray to name some of the tests. It was diagnosed as Lyme menengits and erlichiosis (a form of lyme). Basically the virus got into my spinal fluid and membranes. This caused my double vision which is supposed to last me a few more weeks!!! I was put on heavy antibiotics and had to have a PIC line put in so I can take intravenius antibiotics for another month after I get out. Feeling much better now, but will still be here till Monday morning.

Feel better man, you're typing really well for having double vision:)

That PIC line is like a valve right, almost like a beer tap?

Get well soon!

Exactly, the bad part is it has to stay extremely clean since the line goes 7 inches up into my chest and into a central line. I cant get it wet showering, no swimming and they don't recommend I go riding at all:mad::mad::mad:

Good news update for me. I was going through my files and looked at my blood work....noticed something was off....turns out the doctor didn't read the report right from my blood test and I never had lyme to begin with....they put me on a months worth of doxy for nothing....:mad2:

Oh well at least I'm healthy haha, taught me a good lesson though. Btw lyme isn't exactly 'fatal' it'll just catch up to most people eventually. Maybe you're lucky. Some people smoke for 90 years and are healthy as can be while some die as 35 year old Olympians. Better safe than sorry, though I'd double check anything a doctor tells you hah. I've been super anal about ticks since the day they misdiagnosed, good lesson i guess.
