Beginners group ride

So how was the ride yesterday?? I wanted to come out, but I needed to do some bike repairs first and didn't get finished in time 🙁

It was great, 1st time i rode alone and made it through canal lot blue trail to jacques ln white trail. However, I lost my phone in the process, it flew off my backpack, probably when I slipped. Sucks, and from now on I'm putting all my stuff in zipper pockets.

Nice. Wish I saw this earlier though lol. Give us an update on conditions!

it was great, had very good traction although there are a few muddy puddles that i just walked over. I didn't want to add to the damage other people already made, it looked bad and not good for those who maintain the trail.

Lost your phone at 6mr? You can try calling D&R canal state park to see if someone found it.

I lost a garmin 810 there 2 years ago. Never recovered, tho I'm pretty sure some clowns going the opposite direction found it and got a new garmin out of the deal.

Oh yea, now you've reminded me of my sigma BC 5.12 which also fell off while riding in 6mR lol. So what ive learned is not to hook phones or any digital device on the bike since I still get out of balance here and there. Ugh MTB can be quite expensive.

Cool. Thanks for the update! Going today after work around 3ish. Do you remember exactly where you lost your phone? I can try to see if it's still possibly there lol.

I can go tomorrow morning instead of today...just not at 6AM lol! Looks like it's not gonna rain until 1ish tomorrow.

Do you not ever do two consecutive 6mR days?

Also Im up for exploring CR around late august, by then I believe Im a 6mR intermediate rider lol.

I can't ride with anything in unsecured pockets. If it doesn't have a zipper or can't fit in a secured pocket it stays in the car. After having to find my GFs wallet snowboarding during a powder day in VT all important items must go in the most inner pocket that can be secured.

Cool. I'll join you. Meet at the Canal Lot?

I was gonna head to CR today and then Six Mile tomorrow, but it's starting to get humid out for CR. Don't want to pass out of heat exhaustion or something lol. So yeah, looks like it'll be a double Six Mile weekend.

When I got my bike/getting back into mountain biking, I went to Six Mile constantly. Chimney/Washington is like a step-up. You'll love it there and it'll kick your ass. Start working on your climbing!

Damn I've been posting too much here today lol

One more thing, any of you seen or have rode walmart MTBs in 6mR? and how do they hold up?

I thought I saw quite of bit of Walmart typish bikes at 6mr couple of weeks ago...

Not at 6MR but my first bike is a walgoose ledge 2.1 and rode it exactly 2 times at HM. First time wasn't bad but then again... I didn't get very far. The 2nd time, it started squeaking and creaking. That's the end of that and went to my LBS and bought a entry level giant.

if its looked over they will prob hold up. keep in mind that just " holding up" and "performing well" are two different things in this case. wouldn't recommend it for anything past a "i need a bike to ride exactly one time for the next 3 years" scenario. even for the casual rider who would ride the bike a handful of times during the year would benefit from a bike backed by an LBS or a nicer used bike just from the satisfaction during the user experience and the lack of a headache from dealing with a bigbox store bike issues.
