A Wookies return.....

Well I finally got back on the bike today, it was nice and in the 40’s but the wind sucked at times. Last week was chemo week so I didn’t get to ride and later last week the temps made it bad for my neuropath, so no riding for me. Now I’m trying to enjoy not being treated like a pin cushion for 2 whole weeks!!!!! Now I will get to fi out how good I feel after that length of time away from the lab. Solo ride today to the beach due to the fact we had rain last night....my bikes all like sand anyway. Lol

Hit the trails with an old friend today. That old saying about you know who your friends are when times are tough.....well I am truly blessed to have such a support group. My buddy Gary, in the picture, has how ridden twice in about 10 years. Now I'm sure he's only riding to make sure I don't go alone, and I love the company. The lot was packed which is surprising for a Wednesday, but it was great running into Sean, Mitch, and Chris G.

Theme for.today....No.one fights alone...that has such a special meaning for me now.

My ride today was cancelled by a check engine light and a long drive home in limp mode. He new to me bikemobile didn’t let me completely down, but it didn’t make my day either. A quick scan showed throttle body issues, why did they decide to go fly by wire???? Ugh......well anyway, Saturday is another day and I will do my best to get some riding in again. Merry Christmas to you all!!!

Today I avoided the crowds at Allaire and went for a beach ride, boy that burns the legs. I was dressed warm enough, but the pressure on my hands made them go numb anyway....so I just stopped more. I am off again this coming week and am excited to get out more this week, we will see what my luck brings...so far tomorrow is a phone visit with my doc and taking the mom-in-law to the eye doctor in the afternoon....Monday is shot in the butt. Lol

No riding for me today, had an 11 am Telemedicine apt with my primary today and have to take the mom-in-law to the eye doc later. Big news that has me pretty stoked is that he reviewed the bloodwork from last week and he kept saying normal, normal, normal!!!! My liver functions were normal which really made the Mrs react with tears, she was most afraid of my liver failing over all my other issues. So it’s looking like you all may be stuck with this wookie for a while longer. I’m ok with that lol

On New Year’s Eve I had planned a ride with @Mitch ,but the rain came and we cancelled 😠 so instead I cleaned my guns....funny how soothing that can be. New Years celebrations went out the door for my wife and I many years ago, as a matter of fact, we were trimming our collies nails at midnight...exciting eh? I was very happy to kick 2020 to the curb though...it sucked.
New Years Day started the same way many, many others have....with a great ride with my buds. i had so much fun today that I forgot I am sick a bunch of times, cant begin to describe how good that feels! Thank you Nagy, Joe, Chris, Brian, Larry, Tim, Tom...god, did I forget anyone? I had a great day.

Thank you Nagy

This made me Lol. I know you are talking about Kris, and Nagy is a very common Hungarian last name, but it still sounds weird to hear/see someone else referred to by it. It reminds me of the first time I went to visit my brother in college. He's a little over a year younger than me and was one year behind me in school. We both played soccer growing up, and we were on the same team every other year, so we had a lot of the same friends. My friends all called me Nagy, so they called my brother Little Nagy. Because of the overlap of friends, his other friends also all called him Little Nagy, even if they weren't really friends with me. It was so fucking bizarre to go to visit him in college his freshmen year and hear his friends call him just Nagy.

It’s funny because we have a couple of Chris’/Kris so last name gets used a lot. Hopefully I’ll ride with both of you and get totally confused! 😜

Today I spent the afternoon packing the Xmas decorations away and taking down the wookie cabana....mainly because these had to be done and I’d rather do it when it’s 50 as apposed to 30. I figured I would be sacrificing a ride to get stuff done, but as it turned out I had enough time to squeeze a ride in....wish I’d brought lights as I could have ridden more. There is something I really like about riding on the beach, maybe it’s the sound of the waves or watching surfers and boat bob around in them as well. I was treated to a really nice evening, good thing I have one of those stupid bikes.
I should have taken more photo, especially of all the 2021 numbers scratched into the sand.....I guess everyone is happy that the year we should not mention is over......2020 did seem a bit like Voldemort.

Wow, my vacation from chemo went by quickly, I resume treatment tomorrow...I wonder if my wife will let me ride in the next few days??? I will have a tube attached to me and i will be carrying a globe of chemo in what looks like a fanny pack. Maybe I will have her glue a "Chemobak" logo on there for me. Lol

Thankfully this week is finally over!!! It was back to chemo week and I could really feel the difference after 2 weeks off, boy what a mental and physical drain. Then, of course, there was the event that occured in Washington which really saddened me even more. But I figured I would just try and put that stuff on the back burner to keep a positive mental state. On thursday afternoon I was told I needed another injection to help me along, something they say happens to many folk who are as far down the chemo road as I, so I went in today for it. Turns out this drug wasn't the vitamin booster I was told it was another drug with some nasty side effects. Considering the last drug they tried basically killed me, I wasn't going down this road again. Thank you docs and nurses btw. So I left with mixed feelings as I found out I only have 2 chemo weeks left....basically my treatments will be over mid February...hard to believe it's been this long. I know you are probably wondering why I had mixed feelings about this news, I am torn between the joy of not being chemically induced any longer, and the fear that we didnt do enough...only time will tell. Once i got home from the lab i hopped on this forum and saw that there is still quite a bit of.....discussion...over this weeks issues and I went back into a semi depressed state....until in noticed I had a message. it was a hello from who I will call a new friend, that pulled me right out of my funk, motivated me to get geared up and go for a ride. Thank you Leo for making my day, I hope we get that ride in soon because I cant wait to thank you in person.
Today's loop around the block.

What a “good for the soul” ride I had today, I met with @serviceguy for a ride and I really enjoyed it. I met him through this site and chatted with him a number of times via pms, and finally went out for a ride, what a nice guy. He was able to tolerate my slow pace, post chemo weekends just leave me drained, so we did as much talking as riding. I enjoyed it, hope you did too Leo, thanks for a fun day. While we were on our ride we ran in that cx guy @MMuller, @Bike N Gear , and @mike_243 .....good to see you all.

I sure did! Loved the whole experience, great tour and especially a great guy to ride with! I’m just happy that since you were leading you missed a couple of fumblings on step up logs, one of my many unremarkable trademarks! But you saw me almost crash just standing still (definitely one of my ‘special’ moves).

Wow, I didn’t realize the guys we met were who they were! Glad to meet them anyway!

I’m up for another ride soon!
