24-25 Ski and Snowboard Thread

Windham was seriously meh today. Not much open, mix precip and flat light. Still fun skiing with one of the kids.

They are supposed to open the East Peak this weekend. But it’ll all be man made so likely firm as Warm Puppy Rock 😜

Went to Shawnee with the fam yesterday. Conditions were pretty good. We stayed mostly at the bunny hill as I'm trying to get my 6 y/o son to not be a liability. We did a couple runs from the top and had fun when not trying to keep my son from skiing off the edge into the trees. On the other hand my 8 y/o daughter is cruising so there may be some daddy/daughter ski days coming up.

Any one ski/ride on Christmas Day? I gather it tends to be empty at least in the morning. But nearby Ikon mountains are either only open from 12 noon (Windham, Camelback) or closed (Blue). Any thoughts, in your experience, on whether Christmas Day afternoon will be busy? Trying to decide, conditions notwithstanding, whether it’s worth my time. Mainly just looking to avoid crowds.

I've skied Christmas Day a bunch of times and it's much less crowded. However I've never skied a place that didn't open until noon. That has to encourage the masses to hit the slopes in the afternoon.

Can’t help ya about the Christmas question but Blue was great this morning. 3° at the start, but amazing conditions. It got busy as noon approached. I stayed for another hour and a half and left at 1:30 as the lines were long and the icy spots were starting to appear. It was a great way to spend my 45th birthday.

Getting a late start to the season this year. Surprisingly the crowds on Friday were not terrible if you stayed away from the K1 gondola and bubble chair. Some of the open terrain was questionable too, thin cover. But even so, it was still good to get out on the sticks with friends.

Day two cut short by rain. Killington is definitely gonna lose some terrain after this warm up / rain. Hopefully it gets cold again, with their snowmaking they can usually bounce back pretty quick. IMG_0702.png

agreed, the cloud inversion on Saturday was great!! First time there, and really enjoyed both the mountain and the village. An hour at customs coming back was lame.

Gotta pick your spots on the border crossing. We came up on Xmas day and we’re going home tomorrow. Holidays are the best travel days.

It rained a lot last night. So a bunch of trails closed today.
