That is exactly what I do.I used to ski that run all day, over and over until my legs fell off.
Camelback is looking great!!!
i think i'm going to try skiing this week 😬 I've had a used set for a couple years sitting
Boarding is fun for groom and jumps/features but I feel like skiing will open open more backcountry woods stuff that sucks on a board. Or I just suck.
I still have a bit of PTSD from my boarding days. Fell on a flatter section of woods at Steamboat. Quite the adventure trying to get up and out of there. Not sure skis and poles would have been much better since finding bottom was tough.I haven't skied in more than a few decades but feel like I would want to be on skies on steep groomed and variable condition trails and some traverses into the woods (especially heal edge). But once in the woods or steep slopes with good grip the board is amazing.
The worst by far is if you fall on a flat section (like you said) but even last week I had to un-buckle my back foot during a traverse and I kept post hole-ing until I grabbed a nearby tree branch for some assistance.I still have a bit of PTSD from my boarding days. wow, JFC....how do they enforce this? I mean camelback charges $45 to park....but not like I actually pay them...what are they going to do? take me camelback jail? lol.Yup $30 for an hour of parking (past 2pm is free). With the mdern technology it should be based on volume.
so this works for ikon passes also...at least at camelback....it was great, I was hot lapping the line.....the line that they were not organizing, so it was a giant clusterfuck. It wasn't overly crowded and the season pass access to the VIP lanes is awesome.
Plattekill if it's Fri, Sat or Sun AND there is fresh snow. Closed weekdays. Belleayre, otherwise. Both have trees, Plattekill has the steeps. Hunter and Windham, have the crowds.Hey, looking for recs for the Catskills. Since we have little kids my wife and I have had limited time to ski, used to weekend at Stowe all the time before kids. Any recs for preferences for Catskills resorts? Looking to day trip on a week day (don’t mind the driving at all). Can ski/ride all groomed terrain and venture into the woods if the coverage is good and not skiied off.
I guess it’s between: Hunter, Bellayre, Plattekill, Windham if there are any solid for sure go tos or definitely avoids. Or is it worth the extra 1.5 hrs for southern Vermont (have ridden a bunch there as well)? Also any good food places to stop before leaving or en route from any of those to grab a dinner before booking home?
No season pass this year, but cost isn’t the biggest concern for a single mid week day. Prioritizing fun with the wife. Thanks in advance!
The main issue formIndy Pass is it's two days at each mountain. Not bad if you're just going to hit a bunch of different mountains. Problem is if you like someplace and want to return, the pass is useless.Anyone with experience with Indypass? With young ones these smaller mountains (shawnee, big bear, bear creek) are totally okay with me. And two mountains near my besties place in MA. Which every year he asks to go the Jay peak too. Getting in line with the commoners every time you show up at a mtn to redeem tix sounds like the only con.
When we went to blue to tube. There was a mix of passes etc. Yearly youth pass was coming up canceled. We spent more time with guest services than tubing. They reset our cards and gave is anonymous/no name guest passes and started the 2 hrs fresh.
