Both of these I got my first taste of last week. Some dude from Cape Cod helped me find my ski that was buried.
The worst part of the buried ski is the anxiety. The panic that you won’t find it builds and builds, almost as much as the sweat!

That’s why snowboards 😁
I have to try it again. I took a group lesson 20 years ago, that was pretty much a private because nobody else sighed up. there was no powder but all the snow was really soft and the corduroy was great.

I are shit so many times that day. I was able to link turns on some blues and blacks at Targhee, but when you catch an edge, oooooommmppph!

thank god for helmets. I fell more that day than I have in the last 20 years skiing. I remember thinking “this must be so awesome, if you’re good”

1995 was the year I tried snowboarding for the 1st time. I swear I broke my ass. Couldn't sit on a hard chair or bench without shifting to the other cheek. The whole body hurt. Haven't skied since.

Another good day at the K in the books. Yesterday and today have been really good, not a patch of ice to be found. Great temps, not to cold, not to warm. Supposed leave on Monday, but looks like a dumping is on the way.

What a weekend!

Conditions and weather were stellar so....

Did a half day at Pico on Friday. Haven't skied here since the mid 90's so was pretty excited to be back with everything open. We did a bunch off the summit, Upper Pike, KA glades, Giant Killer, etc. Quick car snacks and de-layering and then we hit A-Slope and few more from the top. Had a Guinness and apps at McGraths Pub to wrap up a blast of old school Vermont ski vibes. Head to friends condo at Highridge and meet up with later arrivals.

Saturday at Killington with an extended crew. Shuttled to Snowshed and take a warm up on Needles then into the Stairs where we picked up Dave from HN. He was alone and wanted to hit the woods so followed us in, thought we were youngsters (LOL). Head to the lift and Dave keeps up so he's now in the group. Do an easy one down to Skyship and then over to Southridge for a Jug/Handle run which was kind of crusty so one and done. Up next was Into the Light (which i'm not supposed to talk about) and we spill out to Escapade/Flume and then down to K1 and up to the summit. Groomer back to Southridge for another run on ITL/Cascade (great combo), up the Canyon and hit Big Dipper and back to the summit for lunch. Post lunch groomer over to Bear and then into Devils Den when the sun started peaking out, pretty amazing. Starting to loose guys at this point, we make our way over to K1 base and finish out a couple runs on Ovation HW, Old Superstar, Superstar.

K1 lodge for Apres and it doesn't disappoint. Tons of space on the 2nd floor from the bar, tables, couches and mountain views throughout.
Food was really good and the wings were maybe the best I've had.

A bit slower on Sunday with the time change and dinner Saturday night at Still on the Mountain. Start on Rams Head with a run down Header, blue bird, packed power and cruising turns. Over to 6 pack and we hit Patsy's and Chute which were both in very good shape. Up to North Ridge and into Powerline... while it wasn't terrible it was in the shadows and fast AF, happy I didn't die. Over to Cascade and find very good snow from top to bottom, everyone was smiling. Some of the crew missed Superstar on Saturday so we take a fast run down the glacier. Not as much snow depth as I've seen in the past so, we'll see how long it lasts into the spring. Take run on Skylark and find more packed power turns. Jerk Shack for early lunch (again the food was very good) and decide we're basically done. One last run groomer down Bittersweet and Showshed.

These were my last scheduled days this season but I doubt that is the case....

Hunter and the Catskills expecting 2’ of snow. Anyone up to ski/board on Wednesday? I’m contemplating taking the morning off to hit some powder. 😬

There is talk that Plattekill might open Wednesday. Otherwise I'll be at Belleayre.

Amazing day at Pico on Sunday fantastic weather, great conditions. Then Monday at Killington was rough the fog was horrible on parts of the mountain. I skipped lots of trails that I've skiied dozens of times just because of how bad the visibility was. Spent some time in the trees to avoid the fog and wind. Left before the storm rolled in last night Instead of staying the night and driving through it In The morning Screenshot_20230313_222059_Connect.jpg20230312_103226.jpg20230313_125918.jpg20230312_123945.jpg20230313_100055.jpg
