Couldn't get out this morning so had to go after work. Thankfully lots of shade on this gravel route.

Had my friend Cory from where I grew up in Sussex county come down to ride. Didn’t get any pictures tho, he was on a e-bike and I was trying to push a pace so he enjoyed it too. I did find this enormous bottle on last climb out if anyone knows the owner of it.

Even tho I am out for the consecutive days challenge I’ll still play along for fun because I like the challenge and I like seeing everyone’s posts.

After a tumultuous 48 hours at home (all fine now) i was able to get back on the bike this morning one day sooner than I thought. Decided in this heat the only option was the Columbia trail again. Made sure I had both bottles full and extra food as I wasn’t sure if I wanted to ride end to end today or not.

The plan was to ride early like 7-9am. Came down to the garage and rear tire was flat. Pumped it up but was feeling resistance for the air to go in. Took out the valve core and cleaned up some sealant build up on it and pumped it back up. Now I have sealant leaking around the Bead/rim. Went to basement to get my charge pump and blasted it with air. Seemed to be better but I took a hand pump and extra CO2 with me just in case. Checked it every 5-7 miles was holding air just fine. Got all the way to Highbridge as I was feeling good and noticed now seems the rear tire is weeping 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️. And these tires are pretty new less than a few hundred miles. The locals really fixed up the entrance to the park very nice since the last time I was there had to take a pic.

Rode the 15 miles back with no issue. ran into a few local riding friends along the way was good to stop in the shade and chat a bit.

I guess the 2 days off the bike was good for me as I felt pretty strong like I could ride more but I didn’t want to be out in the heat past 10am anyway and I was out of water and Gatorade.

Yesterday's ride
ride 16 of 31
Another easy ride. Rode Creek Road since it is the road with the most shade in these parts. Several trees down.
I have suspect skin cancer on my tongue! So after my ride, I had some minor outpatient surgery and spent the rest of the day asleep. I still can't talk properly.

This one was one to tell the grandkids about. First round of storm rolled in and it was minimal. Roads weren't even wet. Saw some stuff on the radar way out towards the west, so I figured I could get my ride in. A monster storm developed and I got stuck in the middle of it. Had to wait it out in the tunnel for about a half hour. When I emerged from being a tunnel dweller, the debris was unreal. Branches and trees down what seemed to be everywhere. I got around all but one on the towpath, which made me turn around and go back out to Canal, which had more trees and branches down. Us and everyone north lost power and of course everyone was driving like a bunch of idiots.
