my garden looks like crap this year, only harvested a few matos and peppers so far
only decent crops has been the bush beans and zucs

pretty much giving up with it this year as already getting over run with projects
the weather has brought in more weeds and weed varieties than I've every seen

This year was a very good fig year, gonna make green fig jam with green ones as soon as the recipe comes from the old country. What's the banana trick?

throw the figs in a paper bag with a banana. The banana will gas off enough ethylene to ripen the figs - if they are far enough along.
Will report back in a couple days. I am skeptical.

I think I'm going to give this a real try this year.
Step one is getting started early.
But I have to rebuild my garden bed, cut down more trees, and install a proper fence.
If I write it down here now I'm committed.

No plans for tomatos cause they are gross. But inevitably my neighbor will give me extras he's probably got going already in his basement.
I have more seeds but it's too early for those yet I think.

thanks for getting my ass of the couch on this one, I always start too late and not enough sun/grow lights
I never have much luck with the dark fibrous greens like kale and broccoli, caterpillars destroy them and don't use pesticides, so giving up on them. Tried different varieties of kale for 5 years and all suffered the same fate. Though have moderately good luck with chards and some asian varieties of greens which are mostly bug resistant. Completely redesigning the garden layout this year. Planning to plant less with easier access to harvesting.
