I never have much luck with the dark fibrous greens like kale and broccoli, caterpillars destroy them and don't use pesticides, so giving up on them. Tried different varieties of kale for 5 years and all suffered the same fate. Though have moderately good luck with chards and some asian varieties of greens which are mostly bug resistant. Completely redesigning the garden layout this year. Planning to plant less with easier access to harvesting.
