I spent some time Friday ripping out the remains of my cucumber plants and last zucchini plants. I'm a little bummed that my garden is starting to fade away but with the return teaching/school and CX, I won't really have a lot of spare time.

I stopped at Home Depot to see about kale seeds. They had none. No seeds. They said they send them back during summer. WTF? I had some left over beet seeds so I put them in.

With all the cucumbers I had, I chopped up some for dipping in hummus and the rest I attempted to make garlic dill pickles. My first time canning on my own too (I watched a friend do it last year). Will wait three weeks now before tasting.

which variety of tomatoes did you grow?
I buy seedlings from one or two places at the Trenton farmers market. The one guy will have one lable per flat and sometimes j get a label and sometimes
Not. In any case, I always get early girls, San mararazo, Rutgers, grape it cherry and then pick random other ones. When I put them in a flat I think I'll remember the types and by the time I get home they all look the same. I think some of those are polish something but I am not sure what the red and yellow ones are.

One that I really want to identify are the large cherry heirloom ones, which are like dark red and green and are super good.

I also have in this year that grows like the shape of an apple.

That may be a black cherry. There are really delicious.

I have an unopened pack that I bought a few weeks ago, they're yours! I'm planning to go to CR ride tonight. Can also drop them in the mail, let me know.

Aww thanks! I won't be at CR but if you want to drop in mail I'll PM my address. Thanks!

Trying to replant my 100 year old magnolia suckers. I have a bunch more if anyone wants a beautiful magnolia.
Dunno if this will work. So much conflicting info on what time of year to do this. I went with the summer dormant period. If it fails I'll try fall. It'll bloom again before fall.

Going to try an indoor crop of tomatoes and peppers this year from some plant which never got into the ground and just starting to fruit. I hear you can extend the growing season till December/January if you have a warm and sunny room inside. Similar to hothouse tomatoes, anyone tried this?

Might work for me. In the winter my living room gets tons of light and i keep it like 80deg in there. Hmm.

If starting from seed now, try the Campari variety which is sold in Costco, stay away from big fruits which have a long maturity

Last of the beats, we had a very good grow season for them.
Tomators are really coming 2 fold.
Basil snipping because basil is awesome. All our basil will eventually become much pesto because pesto is even more awesome.

I failed to take pics of our super dinner plate sunflowers. They reached 16' but almost all have lodged.

Why don't you just quit your job and become a farmer. You might have more time to ride. I heard the government pays you to be a farmer.

Finally harvesting some tomatoes. Also got a few peppers, though all of them are at least partially sun scolded. Fall kale and broccoli are moving slow, must be the heat.
