My tomato season is a solid month late this year and I have heard the same from a few people in my immediate area.

I put about a dozen basil leaves in a snack size ziplock bags then freeze them. when time comes to use it, crush the frozen leaves and add to your food. if you try to defrost them, they are gooey mess. That pesto looks awesome! I have a similar looking pile of basil still rooted in the ground. It's all fallen over itself though.
Also the netting for my tomatoes came loose, so it's just a twisted mess now. Still plenty of green ones growing though

We make basil cubes. Purée basil leaves and olive oil in the blender then pour into ice cube trays and freeze. Easy to make fresh pesto and tomato sauces all winterI put about a dozen basil leaves in a snack size ziplock bags then freeze them. when time comes to use it, crush the frozen leaves and add to your food. if you try to defrost them, they are gooey mess.
I guess you could do the fried green tomato thing. I tried all the stuff with storing them ins, in newspaper, whatever else I read and never seemed to do much. Not sure what I'm going to do with all of my green tomatoes, I'll pull them all on Sat and hope some will ripen up. Peppers are in pots for the most part, so I might be able to squeeze a little more out of them if I move in/out of the house.
