Rocks my friend rocks... not boulders, plenty of loose rock trails at lewmo, especially on a few climbs :) although I do apologize for lacking the skill to attend trails with "real rocks" maybe one day...:D

27.5 plus specialized enduro 29er conversion

There is definitely a learning curve to this setup, tire pressures, leaning etc... but right off the bat I felt like I didn't go for the brakes as often on the downs and the grip was great in turns and probably the largest noticeable improvement was climbing without loosing traction.

27.5 plus specialized enduro 29er conversion

Yeh, jumpa pretty much summed it up with the .gif, hehe it was tighter then a German virgin but after some sandpaper magic, taking off the edge by jamming some 80 grit sandpaper between the rear triangle and tire seems to be fine but just to be on the safe side I ordered a wtb trailblazer 2.8...

27.5 plus specialized enduro 29er conversion

So today I finally picked up my specialized enduro 27.5 plus conversion from @jimvreeland, he did an awesome job setting everything up for me. Short breaknown of items purchased/needed for conversion; -27.5 wheelset with 32mm inner width 38mm outer (any width over 25mm should be sufficient...

    Plus size tires... availability?

Yes sorry, I am talking 27.5 plus, I ordered a set of the specialized purgatory, a set of the wtb bridgers, the bridgers will come in on Monday and the purgatorys, I have no idea, I was hoping the shwalbe and or Maxxis in their more aggressive treads will come out soon. The chronicle looks...

What style bike is everyone riding in North NJ?

I ride a specialized enduro 29er with 160mm travel and a ibis mojo hdr 27.5 with 140mm travel and just recently sold my specialized stumpjumper FSR that had 130mm travel. I love having the extra travel, I'm 6'3 at about 195lbs and the longer travel just makes the ride so much more fun and...

New XX1 parts, Nexties, Carbon stuff, and lots of other stuff.

What can I say... @jimvreeland is an inspiration & a beast any parts of his on my bike for sure will make me 20% faster, at least! And hanging by the shop kind makes me like a groupie, never been a groupie :)

the NOT SO official 27.5+ thread.

agreed to extent, it's all about supply and demand, if there is no demand for rim brakes or very little & if disk brakes will appeal to a larger group of people, the bike mfg. will put discs on, or risk loosing sales to another brand that sells cross bikes with discs and uses that feature as a...

the NOT SO official 27.5+ thread.

My point exactly, some "crazy" guy developed this "crazy" concept and here we are 30 some odd years later reaping the benefits. If it wasn't for someone thiking outside the box we wouldn't have all the options we have today. That's why I think it's a little unfair to insta-bash companies as...

the NOT SO official 27.5+ thread.

While everyone makes a good point, I personally think the more options there are, better off the consumer. If anyone wants to ride their 26" bike for the rest of their life, go for it, no one is forcing a new bike on yee. All the different tire sizes and wheel sizes just give the consumer a more...

    10 - 11 speed compatibility

Just last night I switched to a 1x10 on my ibis, left the existing xt rear dérailleur with 10 speed cassette and threw on a 30t race face chainring, seems to be sufficient for the places I ride, before I switched I placed an order for an xtr rear dérailleur, xtr shifter, 11x42 xt casette and an...

What have you done to your bike today?

I stripped one of the screws on my big front ring while converting my ibis to 1x10, drilled the suckered out and luckily the bolts on the little ring were the same length to install my 30t race face chainring. Changed my specialized henge seat to a fizik aliante (thanks @jimvreeland ) removed...
