This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

Some business are still running, but you need to have a valid reason to be driving around, like going to the supermarket or going to work. 3 months jail time if you're caught out without any proper business and even more if you turn out to be infected.

What about heading out for a solo bike ride?

What about heading out for a solo bike ride?

As seen on our #random Slack channel this morning:

Coworker from Spain:
cycling banned in spain
turbo trainer owners feeling pretty smug

Coworker from Sweden:
I saw that, but commuting by bike is still ok right?

Coworker from Spain:
yeah think so, but the police are stopping people and fining them if they cannot prove they have a reason to be in the street (commuting, buying food/medicine)

jeeze my joke about zwifters might come true - is there a run on wahoo kickrs at bike shops like toilet paper??

And getting a larger family 9 months from now?
I am betting on a baby boom.
I can't imagine what it is like for someone who is due in the next few weeks with all this going on.
I'm also guessing divorce rates will go up as well, with spouses now being together 24/7 without any breaks.

My wife says the ER isnt any busier than usual, but the chaotic part is that they have not figured out what to do with the people who are possibly infected.

Meantime im now playing kindergarten teacher to my son....omg, this is bullshit, I told her to tell her boss ill come there and work for free.

We set up a Slack group at work. By far the stupidest person on the group used it to tell everyone about how he was "out and about." Then to top it off the 3rd string lawyers the client uses made the client shut Slack down.

Incredible, but just wait. One of the people on the board mentioned to me that during the Spanish Flu in 1918-19, people's behavior went south.

Went to quick check for coffee this morning. Ok... Let the coffee shaming begin! Anyways... It was always self service but this morning, you have to ask the staff for your cup.
Starbucks and Panera same thing.

Panera has the coffee subscription service so it becomes even weirder. They give you a paper bag with cup, lid, stirrer, different sweeteners.

HA - you should set up a conference call using a dial in number, and individual, single use, invitation keys.

My concern is really for the food supply (grocery stores) and medication supply. What happens when the production of medications overseas are halted? People die?

Define "on TV" - like it he sitting on your TV?

Define "shutting down" - like can I still go to Buffalo or ride Stewart?

Dee went back to work today. She's a surgical tech and works with a few different docs.

There are no available anesthesiologists available for surgery; they are either pulled to hospitals or they have been exposed themselves by monitoring ventilators. One central NJ family of 5 apparently has 4 people on ventilators. I don't know where they are from or what facility they are in.

I'm back to work Wednesday night. I am REALLY glad I'm on nights this month. That alone will limit exposure a bit. At least until April.

Until then, I'm riding solo and putting some miles on the M2.
