OOS MOGA

Maybe someone can ask the JORBA folks on here which sessions/parks could benefit most from a good OOZING. I'd be down to make my monthly adventure a TM/ride hybrid.

Since I am a JORBA rep of RV and I also do work at CR, I'll tell you what my answer is going to be.

We need to work on the switchbacks at RV, soon. I am going reach out to the park super and see if we can set something up, but I am not sure that's going to happen in June.

Yes RV can be a destination if we put enough work into it. The question is: How much work?

Ain't got cash to throw, so the Talon (ToEG) is my ride for a while. I want NNJ rocks, but prefer something manageable for my first ride with them. That said, I'm not ashamed to go slow or walk if something is outta my league so I really dont care where we go. We'll be riding bikes in the woods, so it'll be fun no matter what.

Maybe HM would be a good choice. But if you want some sort of introduction to riding rocks, I would suggest CR. Rocks aren't as big as NNJ rocks, but it's still a good challenge. Especially on the yellow trails. Quickly looked at the weather, it looks good Thursday-Sunday so things may be dry at CR by Sunday. It's your call. I'm down where ever you decide on.

I am of the opinion every park can be a destination with enough work the better question is are the land managers open and willing to let you do what would be needed to make it that. If so then any park that meets that requirement should be a focus and over time it will be worth the labor.

I am appointing you as the official OOS TM Master of Puppets

Does that mean a bunch of people report to me, I tell them what to do and they completely ignore me and do what they want anyway? If so I already have that job, thank you for your consideration though.
You gotta like the title tho... lol

What we should seriously talk about is opening up the ability to post rides to more users
Judging by the number of rides posted (not a lot) It doesn't seem like there's an issue there, unless you think people aren't requesting to have rides posted because they don't want to have to ask someone to post for them?

I'm assuming the same hell someone might post a ride at a time I'm looking to ride and I'll join them for a change.

We could have random rides and official OOS rides

Are you talking about on mtbnj or strava? Feel free to comment on the post I put in strava.

I'm talking about strava, I saw your comment, I was wondering if we should open up so after your conversation you would be able to execute on what you planned and take out the middle man.

This is my general idea

Of course this would also come with some ground rules like posting rides and not canceling if there's bad weather or no showing on a ride you posted would get some sort of restrictions on strava or ban hammer for repeat offenders.

I've cancelled rides for weather usually we talk it out night before so everyone knows and I don't want riders to have to play ride roulette where you show up and there are 40 people or your by your self after an hour drive and you have no knowledge of the trails.

Do you think that people should create official events that are planned in advance and post short notice pick up rides?
I agree with the no show banning rules.

Also posting on Strava a description of the ride. For example Jungle, I posted as an intermediate to advanced tempo paced ride and it turned into a ride a mixed abilities. Sometimes people don’t read the ride description. I think we should plan a beginner friendly, social pace, no drop ride once a month. Of course if someone wants to lead what I just described more than once a month that’s OK.

At our core we're no drop, everything else is just additional for those who want to build and get better or whatever else tickles your fancy.
