OOS MOGA

I rode bike park black downhills on one, it made HM look like 6 mile you just turn off power assist and hold on for a bad ass upper body workout. Going up with assist it is awesome it guarantees momentum. I have no desire to get one at this time unless I moved to a place that they were worth it and going down is physically demanding but they are really cool if you get a chance ride one
And how fast were you going on the downhill?
Were you going faster than you would have on the Kona? If you are saying power assist off.... I would assume the answer would be a no?
Then my pt exactly.... ebike is not the answer

IMO, if you only have 1hr of riding time, your local trail tends to suck because you only get to goof around the entrance which you have ridden a million times already.
HM specifically.... you get to the good stuff when you are at least 30mins in.... well... that's just my opinion.
You almost always start at same 2 places so for you getting to some spots are longer. If you mix up where you start your ride you can hit different stuff in an hour or so. Try sanderling and the 4 loops, or the rare blue trail, just to mix it up.

On the blacks I was going as slow as I could but faster than I wanted to often. On the flow I was not going nearly fast enough. Honestly I would have rather ridden my hard tail than that ebike down hill it was very hard to control with all the weight but was worth it and will rent again to maximize downhill runs. It also is a good workout if you leave it in the low power settings

Sorry to say.... all the trails at the entrance pts for HM are rather lame.

Road starts sucking when its the same route over and over again.
When riding a new route, its pretty nice.
Just for reference.... its pretty exhilarating when shoot down at 35+mph. Not sure if possible to hit this kind of speed on any trail in NJ.
I hit 37 at RV ?

I don't mean to pressure you but if you pedal around 10mph on asphalt... its really not that bad.
If you change your mind between now and then, LMK cuz I would need to set my alarm accordingly to make sure I wake up in time.
If this is going to be a solo ride.... I am just going to let my sleep dictate if this happens or not lol

The wife vetoed the ride as too dangerous given my current fitness conditions, sorry but I have to let you go solo this time...I'm buying hybrid tires anyway, the transformation begins!

You may not need to be sorry at all.... what time you planning on leaving 6MR? 🙂

I have no doubt you are a heck of lot faster than I can ever ride but realistically.... what does that really mean? If it takes me 30min.... would be fair to say it would take you 20min? So you get to ride the good stuff for 20 mins since its a round trip? Not sure if that's worth it.
bummer, I guess. So do I want to ride HM if 1hour of the riding is bunkness? JK.

For me, there's all sorts of little things I'd like to improve on in my local trails. But I'm still noob as fuck, so it's shit like getting over an 8 inch log smoother or doing a better job of memorizing the smoothest lines.

I think most ppl go thru this.... trying to analysis everything and go after PR's and such. But after a while.... you realize that sometimes, the alt line is actually more fun even if its slower.

Yeah, alt routes are definitely in my future and I try them a bit now. I don't really care that much about speed, I'm just enjoying the learning phase. I get so stoked on the dumbest minor shit. It's gonna really suck when I plateau. I'm getting pumped to ride somewhere new next weekend. Better double check my life insurance policy.

You'er both right. But i think Paul's point was that for him, an 1hr isnt enough time for a ride worthwhile for him. For me, with my situation with work, and my kids, i've learned to enjoy any time on my bike, and make the most use out of what i get. In the last few years i've done many 45min, to 1 hr rides, at places i might never have ridden if i hadnt had a work appointment in the area. I would just toss a bike in the car and ride whatever was closest for as long as i had time to do it.

With more rain coming tonite, I am not optimistic... I mean we are talking about 6MR here
But if the conditions reports are favorable tomorrow, I will prolly ride Sat morning

White maybe good Saturday morning since @jdog has been doing a ton of work on it and patched a bunch of mud holes. Everywhere else may still be wet at spots.

ha this wasnt even a shot at you, it was just a statement of fact/common sense, if you ride faster you get to the good stuff sooner and have more time to play before you have to ride home. . . . i have no clue how fast you are or arent (iv never ridden with you) or how HM is (iv never been) im just a wise ass 😛

Kind of depends on how close the good stuff is to the trailhead at your local, doe.
