The intent of the poll was not to judge or try to decide what is the right way to live your life. I agree that does not end well even under very controlled circumstances, which an internet forum is not.
There's got to be some muslims up in here. I promise I think Norm won't hand the list over to Trump!

IMO atheists and agnostics are very different.

I am Christian, but I do not agree with the religiosity that is present in religion. So I no longer say that I'm "religious". IMO Christianity has nothing to do with how many times you visit a church.
best post so far this year

I'm not religous, spiritual or super sticious but I do believe people have a choice and can believe in what they want, whether it be religion, politics, sexuality or whatever and we can still be friends. Peace, love and positivity.

One Easter myself and the young woman I was with at the time went for a bike ride in the woods. She was telling me about the mad rush to get to church, how there was no parking cause everyone was there, all the hubbub she had endured that morning.

I gestured at the foliage and trail and told her that I was in my church right then.

She thought for a long moment and then said, "I like your church better."

Some go to church. I go to the woods. Or out on the road.

Although even a church could be okay I guess if it was quiet and no one else was there (except God, maybe? If u believe in that sorta thing.)

Except a church won't let you bring your bike in...

Religion - Complex stories and ideas that man invented to answer questions about our exhistence that are even more complex.

IMO there is no god. However at the same times there is no Santa. Childhood is better with Santa. Believing is something provides hope, which is better then things in life being hopeless.

The problem with religion is when people judge others on what they believe. For the record no one knows jack shit, every religious article ever written was written by man. What your bible says has no bearing on how your neighbor lives his life. There are ethics and moral codes to live by but these are not inspired by a God, they were written by man and are based on equality.

Finally when my father died 3 yrs ago religion did keep him from feeling despair during his battle with cancer. Reading his prayer books did provide comfort for him. Religion does help folks through difficult times.

Well, I first was going to remain silent on the topic, but I'll bite. First, atheist and agnostic are not the same. Most atheists say firmly "there is no god" whereas agnostic is "don't know".

To iggy's points, yes I agree, that we humans do tend to judge each other, and well, I wish it wasn't so. However, to counter his point, if you neighbor tries to mess around with your wife, or kids, well now all of a sudden how they live their life is important. Religion laid the foundation for the moral codes we live by. I for one was always taught to love thy neighbor, it's a dam shame we do tend to "judge" others so much.

As far as the idea of "there is no god", well, why do you love your wife, girlfriend, family, etc.? Where did that love come from?

This is where this thread starts to go south.

Fair enough. I figured I'd get that reaction, but what's a debate/conversation without an opposing view? Since I'm not well known on here and still somewhat new, I don't want to ruffle too many feathers. This is always a touchy subject with anyone, but I figured there were already opinions voiced, so what the heck, why not.
