The Guitar Player Thread.

Been fumbling my way through this lick for a while now and I don't feel like I'm getting it anytime soon. This is also a good look into my approach to arpeggios. Basically I break a mode position into 3 string sections and overlap them. I don't like sweeping the big common shapes.

 


Staying in theme, oldskool. This was actually the 3rd Metallica album I bought. I started with Master of Puppets and then went backwards to catch up.

Funny story. In '89 my BFF and I wanted to start a band but neither of us played an instrument. I bought a guitar and a little Crate 15w amp, his dad was a drummer so he took a bunch of leftover pieces and put a kit together. We set up a little practice area in the back of his room but we didn't really know any songs yet. I learned Seek and Destroy and Am I Evil. I would plug my guitar into his dad's stereo system and use it like an amplifier because my little 15w Crate wasn't loud enough. I'm not sure how many hundreds of times we played those 2 songs before eventually expanding our set-list to include Harvester of Sorrow. For a good 2 or 3 years our band was only us...

the first time i recorded something i used headphones as the mic. plugged them into the mic port and it worked.

i used to use the stereo for playing bass. always thought i would blow the speakers out.
 
i think i used the same crate amp too back in the day with my friend and i's two person band lol. we almost played a show or two. we had four or five songs. just guitar and drums, no lyrics.
 
I love Metallica and am digging these...also love how Super Mario looks like he is a a concert behind your guitar with his fist pumping!


Also, were you in the olympics? looking at that rwb medal in background..

Watching these videos makes me want to restring my guitar... but my 6yo thinks I don't play with her enuff... couple of more years until she would rather hang out with her friends instead.

That's why I play in the morning most of the time. My kids are at the age where they get themselves ready for school and whatnot so I rock out. That's also why I'm in my Mario Pajamas. Just do it. You'll be surprised how you can squeeze things in when you're motivated to.
