The Longest Day 2015

All the prep is done. The SAG truck is loaded and the weather...oh my....the weather!!!! A picture perfect 76 degrees with light ESE winds and only a late PM chance of rain!!

I hope I can get to sleep tonight but the anticipation may cut that a little short. I am looking forward to riding with all of you who have been able to find the time to get out there and pull me along. Be safe!
 
Going to try to be at flanders bagel at 5:45, then start working backwards up the route - i can ride 1 hour backwards, hopefully by 6:45
i'll find you. I'll be wearing a a Vermont Brewing #9 Jersey....

So the route is just rt 206 north from flanders?
our turn around point will be kvsp if we don't catch you.
 
Kevin was doing great at the ~ 103 mile mark in Allentown. He did his first 100 miles in under 6 hours and was going strong when I turned back.

PS Jim Vreeland was ave over 20 mph at 6mr canal lot (73 miles) - he's on track for 10 hrs. Go Kevin and Jim!

WTG!

So awesome catching Kevin around mile 33 to accompany him to mile 47. We (@Roadie and i) found him just south of kvsp
in great spirits, and looking strong. he got the cold shoulder from the counter girl at flanders bagel, but that didn't ruin his day.
It was all downhill from there 🙂

again, gotta say he was looking very strong.

We left our place around 5:00 for a 5:45 departure from flanders. Hit 206 north, which sucks, but was ok at that time.
about 45 minutes in, we connected - took international drive back to avoid kingtown mt

Great job Kevin! It was great riding with you this morning. Awesome accomplishment
 
You guys killed it Kevin and Jim - congrats!

I met Kevin and Jim at 6mr canal lot ~ 9:15 and Kevin's wife with the SAG truck. Jim took off and then Kevin and I left a few minutes later. Figured I'd hang until Mercer County park as my legs were not feeling too hot from the last few rides but after a while they felt better so I hung until Allentown.

Fortunately for me the garmin "navigate back to start" function got me home because there was no way I was remembering all the turns and I have no familiarity with that area. Rode a few extra miles around my hood to make it a metric century:
