This is cold.

I think pat is being too generous on time frame to post your ride. Ok, some strategy on waiting to post but sand bagging your posts more than 36 hours is just cheap unless you have valid reasons. Other people can't try to out do each other if you wait a long time to post.

Body must have been really tired from the riding 1st week. On Monday, I heard the rain coming down and just kept on sleeping. No way I was going out in that 'ish. 4:30pm comes around and the bossman calls wanting to having dinner so I scrape myself out of bed and head down to Princeton area. Got a free meal at Eno Terra, that is a good restaurant. On the way back, I stopped at the local watering hole to watch the game and a few beers. 11pm comes around and think about going out for a quicky, but that idea failed after about 2 seconds. Basically, what I'm trying to say is I didn't ride on Monday.

So Tuesday comes along, and I'm in bed looking at the clock and it says 3:30pm. I'm like f*ck I have get myself up to ride and perhaps actually do some work. Hang out at home doing chores and eating things. Finally around 7:30pm get myself out to some local trails for my first ride of week. Decided to take a page out of Jmanic's book and do the Piermont to Nyack connection. Rolled by a popo in Nyack, but he didn't say anything.

It was 15 degrees, but felt lot colder for some reason, the winds along the Hudson River were insane.

how were the trails? i rolled in thought about it and aborted. it just didn't feel like it was cold enough yesterday to freeze it up. they are already rutted up and let's face it i was lazy. going to give it a try today.
Not cold enough? Temperature dropped like crazy. Trails were Great. It was like 17 degrees when i started at 6ish. Solid trails with no ice except in some usual wet spots.

That is a nice free meal $$$. I could eat their bread all day.

Cool picture, much photoshop for that light pattern to show that perfect?

Wednesday
For me, cold, dark road, strava says 16 degree average but that includes the cool-down period and if you look at the temp graph you will see it was well with in the 15 degree cap.

1 ride
1 cold

:cry: Wunderground was not in the woods at Allaire. I was..

Just looked at my Garmin stats and you are correct, I did not meet the below 15 min. but I was close. 17.1 avg.. Sorry, but it felt way colder..

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/673060010

well, you were much closer to 15 than 17 given the time it takes the temp to stabilize - i'll need to find a closer weather station on the map....i might put this one out there - as it looks like the ride temp ranged between 14-15.8 ->14.9 avg......which is below 15!

scoring calls for only one hardness point per ride - so you got the dark!

upon further review, the ruling is reversed! as long as you get another dark ride in....

BTW - are you running strava on the phone + the garmin? the temp data wasn't in the strava link supplied.

I agree going forward with this.. The 1st week people, like myself, thought the strava page was the place to post. So I did post late on the board.

I got DQ'ed last nite for cold at Allaire, Weather Underground temps are the official call.
I'll leave it up to the boss on this.

I think for fairness all around you need one weather site for you to use.
I have no problem with no cold point, its only fair.
I use the Garmin 810 which then saves ride to Phones Garmin Connect APP which then sends to Garmin which then auto syncs to Strava and then Strava changes everything 😀

Kevin's strava includes temps - will wait for him to 'splain.
his ride was this morning, cold - my house (about 20 north of him) was sub-15. link to my weather station on first post.

i'm ok with garmin temp data - seems kinda silly that they don't resolve their temp to 10ths.

How accurate is Garmin temp data in the cold? I know the data in high heat is crap.

I would suggest using as local to ride as possible weather data. Of course this doesn't apply me cause I'm a wimp and won't ride in really cold

Just know that it is always darker and colder when Kevin rides. There will be no explanation.

Not for the light pattern. On an SLR, if you set aperture really high like F/22, it naturally does that. I think it has something to do with the way it's shaped like some polygon:

What beers did you drink?

Sixpoint Mad Scientist #21 Porter
+
Founders Nitro Oatmeal Stout

It's garbage. I think very few places in NJ will be below 15 degrees at all this week. But really, whatever - 14, 15, 16, in the end it's not going to say a 25 degree ride was 14, so it's still just cold.

Long exposure and the shape of the diaphragm. You can actually change the shape of flares by taping whatever shape you want to the end of your lens. All you have to do is zoom past it so it's not in the field and you'll have some customs flares and unfocused blurs.

Here's an example of a heart shape taped to the end of a lens/hood/filter. Not my picture.
