Know Your Fellow MTBNJers Series: What Do You Do For Twerk?

I'm a machinist - I manufacture things out of solid blocks of metal or whatevs, I'll cut any material that needs to be cut. :getsome:

Yes, there are still things manufactured in the US. Some things can't be sent to china. 😉

I also moonlight as a plumber, electrician, carpenter, mechanic etc. whatever needs to be done. I guess I'm just a mechanical guy...

If/when I have any time after that, I spend it with my kids and riding bikes. (sometimes riding bikes with my kids!)

Do you ride with the Planet Bike guys? I think we rode at Allaire earlier this year with the Barry and the PB guys? was that you?

I am friends with Barry and do all their alarm work but I was not on the PB ride..Does your brother work there by any chance??

Mike, you must mean English Marc, who works for me.. He says he was there at that ride....

I'm one of the people who Service Managers blame when your car isn't ready as promised. It's an extremely glamorous job that involves dealing with do-it-yourselfers, local shops, our own parts changers, and the ever popular telephone tough-guy. In case you haven't guessed it already, I'm a Parts Advisor at a car dealer.........can't get enough lipstick for this pig. 🙁

I work for Pepsi, right outta Piscataway. All the delicious carbonated non alcoholic drinks you enjoy are bottled right there. I'm a delivery driver, although these days I don't do a lot of delivering, I've been there for 15 years and seniority is a beautiful thing. I mostly do new account set ups, customer schmoozing and aid the other drivers. I'm a fixture at Rutgers about 2-3 days a week, keeping them happy.

I was recently awarded, with about 40 other drivers from NJ, PA, and DE, with having 10 years of safe driving with out any accidents. Numerous gifts and prizes, including an all expense paid dinner and night out in AC. Not really my cup of tea, but it was a fun night out. I was also nominated by my coworkers and management to be a part of the facilities Cultural committee, which means I'm involved with making sure everyone is getting along and being represented properly. I'm also an assistant shop steward, which can be a headache most of the time.

I'm also an avid motorcyclist, and as my signature says, the remainder of my time and all of my money goes into cheer. My oldest daughter does competitive cheer and between practice 3 days a week and the 12-15 competitions coming up, I'm pretty much off the radar.

Like Robin, I'm also a teacher. I teach high school art (graphic and fine arts). I also coach the varsity soccer team at my school.

I work as a mechanic for a large (the largest) world wide truck rental/leasing company based in Moonachie NJ....1 mile from Giants Stadium.

I also work at Cycle Craft in Parsippany... I am the head guy in charge of putting hitches and bike racks on vehicles.

I work in product development for a wireless carrier.**
I write test plans which phones/devices must pass if they are on our network.*
I am specifically responsible for the plans that are executed in the Infrastructure labs....meaning they are ran on actually enodeBs (cell towers) in the vendor's labs on sandbox networks as well as the test plans that are used to test devices on the live network.
I also attend GCF (global certification forum) meetings.* This is where we decide which 3gpp test cases will required as part of GCF certification which is required by most major carriers.* This is a cool responsibility that sends me all over the world once every quarter.
These are the major responsibilities, but most of the time I spend working with manufacturers to launch phones with the latest and greatest features.

So you get to see new phones before they are released? Like when the iPhone 6 came out, you "networked" it first?

I usually work on phones a year before launch, and actually see phones 6 months prior to launch.

I'm a gadget guy, and I really enjoy that aspect. Making sure these phones launch on time can be pretty stressful though.
When you're given a pre launch device, there are some expectations that go along with it. Meaning, you should be finding problems with it, reporting them, and driving the resolution of that problem.

90% retired, tinker around house. occasionally ride my bikes.

other 10% run the technology-consulting/staff-supplementation company i started about 20 years ago. My employees are all qualified as independents, so i just deal with contracts/insurance/payroll/billing etc...you got a client, and don't want to deal with the crap, give me a buzz.

education wise i'm an MBA with a comp sci undergrad (double psych minor), so in a former life i was a unix/c developer with specialty in data mining (spying) for marketing purposes in the telecomm industry. i already know who you are.😀
