Coffe disadvantages

Ok, so I quit smoking 3 weeks ago and put 6lbs on as a result. No big deal I can do this, at least thats what I tell myself. Anyways Im back on my sub 2000 cal diet and will be riding a regular schedule of 3-4 x a week.

My question is for coffe freaks like myself. Im good for at least 6 a day. What are the disadvantages to hauling down about a gallon of brew per day. Also, my aunt is a 'weight watcher' and told me I can eat as many clementines as possible in one day. Is this true? It will slow down the amount of weight I can loose based on caloric intake, right? Zero points bullsh1t and all, it dosnt aplly to me unless Im following their program?

Coffee has 2 Es.

Do you add sugar/cream?

A clementine is one of the highest density calorie packed fruits in the citrus family. A big orange has like 70, a tiny clementine has 30. I could easily drop 10 clementines in a sitting. I don't recommend going Hank Aaron* on those things.

Coffee is natural, which has to count for something. Some people find it helps keep hunger at bay. in addition to your answer about sugar/cream, do you often pair it with a meal or other food? Meaning, maybe you drink it black but also with breakfast, or a snack, or lunch, etc?

6 coffees can be 600 plus calories per day depending how you make it. drink 2 coffee and 4 waters(0 cal) instead, its about will power

No sugar, 10 cal creamer per seving. Sorry about the spelling, I will post auto correct in the site recommendations.

I'll have coffee in between meals, driving, and to deal with hunger until my body adjusts to the reduced calorie diet. I generally dont pair it with meals.

I'd say the only/main disadvantage to weight loss with 6 cups per day is that once you get to night time, you won't have that coffee to take the hunger edge off. Otherwise I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Let me preface this by saying that I've never been a smoker, so I probably don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

But if I drank 6 cups of coffee a day, I would have so much nervous energy that I would look for outlets for it... like smoking. Doesn't the excess caffeine work against your main goal of quitting nicotine?

3 weeks? Fantastic! You've got this one beat for sure, the trick is to never pick up another one. Realizing how much other smokers reek can help keep you clean too.

The only thing I can say about your aunt's theory on clementines is if you eat too many they may take the express route out and negate any calorie absorption...

Coffee? Figure 5 calories a cup and at 10 calories a serving for the creamer X 10 cups gives you 150 calories a day. That's two apples. Not a big deal for most people. The creamer is undoubtably filled with stuff you might not want to ingest and the caffeine itself is a drug that you'll want to cut out down the road but it's better than cigs anyday.

And don't they say? "One vise at a time."😉

Seriously, congrats on the quitting. You may be a bit rough 'round the edges, but you're still an inspiration.😀

+1 on this too. workout the cigs completely first. i'm an avid coffee drinker. i think of my coffee drinking as a sport at this point in my life. you're gonna deal with headaches (most likely) when you start cutting back, so make sure the smoking is out of the picture for a bit longer first.

i don't know if i'm weird, but the way my metabolism seems to work is if i take in a daring amount of coffee in the morning, my breakfast burns up super quick so i get hungry faster.

look into grapefruits (without sugar on top) and celery too. they are both low in calories so they give you at least something to eat if you're not looking for calories to take in. some even say they have "negative" calories because it takes more calories to digest them than they carry.

Celery! Mmmmmmmm.
Helps with that oral fixation and leaves your breath and hands with that clean fresh feeling! There are some that say celery is an appetite stimulant but I've never found it to be so. I also find it somewhat hydrating while others say it's a diuretic so YMMV.

Congrats on quitting!!

Like others said, I think the downside to coffee is what you put in it and what you have with it. Coffee itself is perfectly fine and plenty of studies show that its healthy to consume it in the range of 3 +/- cups day.

Great job quitting!!! WooHoo

As for the coffee....hummmm some say it is healthy in moderation, antioxidants and all....I couldnt drink that much coffee in a day, I get a buzz from smelling the stuff LOL

congratulation!

i quit smoking when i was 20yrs old until now..it was 20 years ago.
start smoking at age 10...don't ask me why/how i start,.. but i can tell you how to quit.

congratulations,you've quit smoking.hopefully for good!
$12/pack def force peoples to think twice.

and i'm a black kopi drinker only put 2 spoon sugar/honey.
drank my kopi at noon after lunch, never after diner.(no cabe dormir)
to fight hunger in the morning is very easy.
eats fruits or vegetable, they are contains lot of fiber.so..it will make you feel fuller.
simple carbs foods/sugary drinks only make you become hunger more and more often.

Thanks for the support. I'm gonna keep up with the coffee.

only caveat w the coffee is that i recently had my first kidney stone @ 40 yrs old - worst pain of my life right there - urologist said high coffee intake is not good in this regard and can often contribute to stone development - but whatever - i love the stuff - drink it black - i have cut down since the stone and also increased my h2o intake

good deal on quitting smoking

Congratulation on quitting smoking!

Not a former smoker, but I probably down about 12 "cups" per day, which translates into about 4 big mugs. Although I usually drink 1/2 car or decaf most of the time. No problem with stones.

I often pair with a Cliff Builder's bar + an apple or orange and I find it to rather filling with 2 mugs of coffee. Not meant as a meal replacement, but they do the job at 270 calories, 8g fat, 20 g protein, 30 g carbs. Unfortunately, 5g of that fat is saturated.

These bars might be a bit sweet if you are watching your sugar intake or are worried about glycemic indices of foods.

Copious water quantities throughout the day are great four filling up one's stomach, and flushing the kidneys.

Thanks for being an inspiration!

Dude congrats. on not smoking that is one of the hardest habits to quit...
as for the coffee I drink upwards to 6 small or 4 large cups a day black so my opinion means nothing on that front..

Quiting smoking is a walk through the park for me. I once thought the rum diary was about me, really. Thanks though. its part of my more refined approach towards life.
