6 Mile Run Conditions

Trails were in fine shape tonight. Cheers to whoever constructed the new bridge (the one that got washed away) and the new boardwalks in the field all on blue.

I was flying tonight...my best average speed (9.1 to 9.5 MPH depending on what site I believe) on blue (starting at the Canal lot) to red to white to red and back to the lot ever!!!

I did go over the bars at one point though...on the red going back to Canal Rd. there is a section going down that is quite eroded. Too much front brake and too little ass behind the seat sent me a tumbling. I ended up with a few scratches and some blood.

Shame it is going to rain tomorrow...I could go for some more...

Little birds hard at work this AM.

rode yesterday late pm as well - trails couldnt havent been better!! the recent work is great!

one thought: that slanted bridge is a bit of a hidden danger.

on the way out i went over it just fine. but on the way back i walked it since I came at it at a bad angle.

walking it I realized that the surface is really slippery. both my feet and tires were slidding which made me think: it's just a matter of time before someone's tires slide right out from under them. and since you can hit that thing with good speed....that would not be pretty.

It will be less of a big deal as the prime line gets more worn in. It would have been way easier to build a flat bridge, but this is more fun. You can catch some air in both directions.

Not only that big washout on either side where it meets the bank. Get a wheel locked up in there and you're going otb. I just dismount and walk it.

J- not sure if youre responding to my post. but in case you were - I wasnt talking about the new work. that stuff is golden.

by "slanted bridge" I was referring to that bridge right near Blackwells Mill Road that, I think, got knocked over a bit during the storm. it's at a pretty good angle. its fun to hit but that angle combined with the slippery surface (damn that 6MR clay dust) may claim a victim. and since you can hit that with good speed.....

J, Thanks for the replacement bridge, Natty stalled in the ditch this past Sunday, fell in not once but twice trying to exit the mud. He will enjoy this new crossing! (BF)

I had nothing to do w/ that one. I have 4 bridges on the docket for the fall and this is not on the list. There is an easy ride around on that one but a substantial bridge will appear there in the future.
