Going Long and Hard.

this is a "shop ride " ?!
it is more " how to kill you customers "

I recall you saying you are hating road racing since the winner is the one taking advantage on other riders work .

We call it "the shop ride", but it's really a Watchung Wheelmen training ride. We just use the shop as a meeting point. The B ride is actually a High Gear Cyclery ride, which is why it's slow and safe.😉

I do generally dislike road racing, that is very true. I play along, for the most part, during the shop ride because I'm a guest in their world.

Oh crap you know what I just remembered? I won that little hilltop stop sign sprint!!😀

-Jim.

LOL - yes it may be Jeff. He's the guy who peels off left immediately after the last sprint point I think. You do sometimes go too hard after the pull but this isn't a team TT. Most of us just jump on your wheel if you're dangling like that.

Agree about the A/AX split. And the 5:15 start time. I'm with you on the banned part. Though in 3 weeks from now it may be me, you, and Mike and nobody else. Actually Jon is the good climber guy right? He's quiet but a solid rider.

I told Jeff when I'm sitting off the front like that to just pull behind. I'd rather get more TT'esque work than paceline. Jon is actually very strong, he's just too skinny for the swamp loop, on the big loop he'll be one of the guys to watch out for. We have a dozen or so pros that jump in the ride during the season when they're around so there will be days when the ride is really hard!! So it'll be more than 3 of us. Like when Dirk is out of base for example, we're all dead. Ricky and his dad are also 2 insanely strong guys that start hitting the ride when it leaves at 6. Ed and Chris will stay no matter what as well.

I think I got hit by a car at some point. I remember riding next you and chatting..... next thing I know im alone in a swamp wearing tights with a really sore back.

🙄 Too funny.

I have been reading about this ride and it intrigues and scares me at the same time. I'll probably hold off until next year when I hopefully have some more power and experience riding on the road without knocking people into the woods. 🙂

C'mon Sean, the one thing this riding is missing is you. You kicked booty in cyclocross...jump in and join the fun.
Do a couple B rides to get used to riding in a pack and you'll be good to go.

Wednesday

Today is the day!! It's Seven day at the shop. I have 1 complete tear/down rebuild for a touring bike that's about to set sail on a 3-month tour across the US, A road bike build, and my bike came in!! WOOP WOOP!!

Here's the first project stripped and quasi-cleaned up. Bike is super cool. This guys rides the crap out of his stuff so this is a testament to the durability of the build. It's an octalink DA build we did quite a few years ago and it's still going strong after thousands and thousands of miles!! I love the back of this bike. PS, you want your Ti bike to look this good? Clean it with WD40. Pro tip of the day 🙂

Also had a Gateway build AxiomS. One of the cheaper ways to get your hands on something ti and custom. This guy went for a flip/flop thing with the decals. One side is blue...

The other side is red...

Kinda neat. I want to do the cables and bar tape the same way. Blue on one side, red on the other. Not sure if he'll go for it though, we'll have to see!!

My frame came in during this stuff so I only got to take it out of the box and pop a shot of it.

Stayed late after work to build her up. Every green thing I put on it I got more and more excited. The build came out so sick!!

Pretty straight forward build. Sram Force kit with a DA7800 chain. Green King headset and BB. Thomson X2 stem and set-back post. EC90 Aero bar and EC90SL fork. Romin carbon saddle. Those are my Hope CX wheels with a new set of Pave tubies glued up. Red cassette. 105 pedals. Green Jagwire cables. Custom green Hudz. I even dug up some green cable tips and green ti bottle bolts. BLING!!

So once again, I pegged my fit by feel, it's uncanny at this point. We're talking down to the millimeter to the Seven spec sheet. I'm gonna have Eric double-check me tomorrow just to be 100% but it feels exactly like my Mudhoney riding around the lot and such. I so can't wait to get this thing out in the dirt!! TOMORROW!! I hope it rains too:getsome:

You can never go wrong with sick, son, or murder.

A son who's sick of murder is a no-go, but if you murder your sick son you get bonus points.

Totally Rapha continentalesque, but in your own unique way. Modern class. Love it. Get it dirty and take better pics!
