Good times guys. I headed back out...eventually made it to berkshire valley road. By then I had long since bonked. The bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and 3 gu pacs throughout the day was not enough to this fat machine operating. However I made it back to rockaway. Lost 6 lbs since I woke up this morning 🙂 Getting to Berkshire valley road following one of Sean's old gps tracks was awesome. Trail was pretty crazy and I managed a couple of trips OTB. Then I came face to face with a black bear while look down at my gps. Startled me for a minute, but he ran off. good times

goodtimes..lets do it again:getsome:

BTW- looks like i'm about to shit myself in that photo from Anrothar's Alley.

looks like an awesome day! sorry I missed out - but still recovering from last week...next time!

Cracked Intense but good fun on the Mongoose HT today

Were is the crack on your frame?

TWO cracks - one by the rear brake mount and a real slim one right at the front of the top tube (under side by the weld)

Nothing from Intense yet - hoping they offer me something - today's ride reminded me of how much I enjoy the hydraulic brakes and dual suspension...ya know ride ride ride .. oh S@#@ there was a rock under all those leaves

But hey that's part of the game - good times today ..enjoyed meeting everyone....thanks for the lead Matt

Hey take a look at Robson's first photo - Utah grew an arm coming out of his nose...

I enjoyed putting some faces to names and meeting mtbnj folks. Matt, Forgeson and Stratocaster thanks for the tour.
some observations on the day
-Liong road 30+ miles to get to the ride, did ride than road 30+ miles home.
-ru chris left the comforts of college life to join in the ride, and is a good technical rider btw.
-turtle looks easier on camera than in person
-malhon is technical
-Liong's water bottle contains chocolate milk
-Utah put on weight but can still climb hills
-Nickbee does drink red bull
-forgeson doesnt look like the pillsbury dough boy

-You forgot to count how many 29ers vs. 26ers

hey my new bike is full on 29er stupidity.
I have never, ever fallen so many times in a day. I must have went over the bars 12-13 times.
I think one of the culprits of my falls is my front wheel. The rim/spokes are so bad that in rock gardens the wheel really doesn't turn, it just kinda binds and twists up. I can push the tire into the fork and make it touch that's how bad it is. I've known this for 2 months and I've still never done anything about it 🙂

The other thing is that I have to totally adjust my riding style in tech now. I've always done it seated in granny gear. Now with the 1x9 I have to stand up and mash to get through the rock gardens and I'm not used to it. I have too much weight on the front wheel and I get it stuck on everything and then promptly fall over the bars.

So you picked up a dead squirrel on the road, put it on your rear wheel, and took a picture? 😕
