Don't Call it a Comeback

I didn't realize there was so much drama on the trail last night... from my perspective you were all one group, 10 minutes ahead of me.😱

You got to enjoy 6 Mile at warp speed. After this ride last week & the food I only sleep about 3 hrs. Woke up in a cold sweat a couple of times. I was just to tired to sleep. Sound like it was even faster last night.:drooling: Still wish I could have made it.

I realized only AFTER the ride that this Cdale rep was the same Bryon Kremer who won the B's race in Nittany ... He looked like he knew what he was doing!

On the way back, Adam apparently lost his vision. So a crash would've been easy to arrange.

Bry regularly kicks my ass at Wissahiken which is his local spot. It was nice to finally return the favor.

He called me this morning raving about how much fun he had. I doubt we will see an average higher than that until next summer.

Rain is forecasted and a lot of it. Mud season is days away. I can't wait to see water flowing under the new bridge.

Lead group posting higher numbers😕....You guys were on FIRE out there

Oh at night as well...That is obnoxious😉

Met ElZoller, hugged Mare and Walter, avoided serious injury to kids.

It was a pleasure to finally meet you. Not to mention this was the most action I have gotten in months🙄

Nice recap, good luck with the pup!

It was a good ride. Hopefully you got those brakes handled 🙂

Yes got the brakes fixed they're operating better now than they ever have thanks to Flecknoe 😀

Looks like you guys had a blast. Ben I loved the video on FB this morning started my day off right 🙂

Tue night 6mr ride

This was a record speed, record time ride.

(I'm sure the lead group posted faster times than this)

Fenton was on fire, and continuously destroyed the peloton.

Pic of the post-ride - phillipine-tex-mex food. Good fun, great peeps.

Have I mentioned that I hate you guys?

5th st

So Larry (cpuncher), jdog and I drove out to close to Allentown PA for the 5th street cross.

http://www.fifthstreetcross.com/

I had doubts that this would be worth the 1.5 hour drive. Well, even in the 30 degree temps, rain, cold, it was worth it.

The course was a bit over a mile, mostly flat, two sets of two barriers, and a run up. Otherwise, twisty and slippery.

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/16343394

At each lap, there was a choice. A shortcut, or the regular long ways

If you take shortcut, you have to eat a raw hot dog, well, half of one.

After two "pit stops" I felt like puking. So I tried the long ways. This was rocky, rooty, not very fun at all. So next time around I took the shortcut again, and they made me chug a beer as they were out of dogs. Which was good. Really good actually.

Anyways, I felt good, and had a good race. Afterwards, there was a sausage party. Lots of good peeps, some editorial folks from Bicycling mag, plus Selene "Fit Chick" Yeager who did Kona last year.

There was obviously no regard for age, class, skill, just a mass start. 38 people finished.

J and I did battle on the 5th lap, I think he was having an issue with his chain skipping, so I jumped ahead to finish 14th.

The results are here. http://www.fifthstreetcross.com/results.html
I'm under "ilay". Apparently there is another "cush" but spelled with a c. wtf is up with that.

The cross dressing one should be good...

Granogue

Granogue Cross 2009

From the website - "Granogue Cross is often referred to as the crown jewel of the Mid Atlantic Cross scene. It is one of the country’s most prestigious cross races. This is an event that all crossers need to experience. The course is a classic Northern Delaware cyclocross circuit that rolls, twists and turns itself through the majestic Dupont Estate. The event offers the toughest cross riders in the region and country an opportunity to tackle a world class course. A UCI C2 event, Granogue Cross is sure to attract the country’s best elite cross riders. "

It was on a really cool farm, and the organization was awesome.

This is my second CX race of the season if you don't count 5th Street (Nittany was first) and third total. This time I raced in 2/3/4 35+. I don't know where I placed, but I ran a solid race. Bike, pace, handling, all felt right.

It poured buckets on the course, which was as slippery, off-camber, and thick-muddy as you can get. People were falling left and right, and I got really tired of people doing the tripod thing without even sliding. Damn leg-shaving roadies 🙄. I have the invaluable experience of racing in the mud in EVERY race this season 😀

Here some pics, I couldn't stick around for Fred's and Adam's races to get any action shots of them.

The Granogue results are Here

I placed 33rd out of 86 starters in 35+ Masters 2/3/4.

With all these CX categories they have, I'm not even sure what this means. It doesn't sound great, but it felt damn good, and the guys seemed much better than the C's I raced with at Nittany.

So I'll just leave it at that, and target to get to tear up the top 5 by same time next year.

And I actually liked the mud. It added a new dimension (lol)

Some awesome pics MLK people took

Great job I!

And i bet you are posting from Russia, which gets extra credit!

Yes, that was from Russia.

Now I'm having breakfast in Minsk. They actually have Wifi. Country's come a long way.

The TCX is running great, and the tubeless setup is cake.

The iPhone, however, didn't know what time it was, so it woke me up on Moscow time (1hr earlier). What a total POS.

Fitness away from home

So I flew from JFK on Sunday to Moscow

Arrived Monday noon

Tuesday couldn't sleep, and went for a hill run here, as I'm staying with the in-laws in the apt building there in the background.

Just did hill repeats in the dark. It was real dark.

This is actually a cool place.

It is home to the Krylatskoye Hills Velodrome, just to the right

Last night I flew to Minsk, arrived midnight, and went to the bar for a drink, chatted / sent some MMS' with Norm. Mine were better than his for sure.

Now I'm in Minsk, Belarus, working.
