Don't Call it a Comeback

Would have gotten some pictures for you, but it was raining and we put the camera away. What was going on with you yelling your # out at the line? We were all trying to figure that out. BTW The fist pump was cool 😀

Good job out there!

My number was crunched down and hanging by a thread. As I went through they were going umm 271? 260? when it was 371. They got it wrong before a couple times ... I made sure it didn't happen again 😉

I have to say the volunteers there were a happy bunch of good people. Props to the organizers. Well-run race.

Catching up. Or going back in time.

Just thought I'd snapshot of what I did the week leading into the last JH race. Nothing structured, more opportunistic riding, and mostly road this week as opposed to the week prior which was all mtb.

Also, it was only 130 real miles. Which is below where I like it to be.

This week looks promising, starting with tomorrow when I think I'll get a chance to get my legs torn off right proper.

Focus now turns to CX. Ringwood should be ok. I've JB welded the cracks on the Superfly. No joke. New frame is probably 2-3 weeks away.

Special note on the MCP ride with the boys. This turned into a night ride, which I got in major trouble with Mrs. Kush for. They were troopers, particularly in that this was the east side, behind the boathouse, which is the rootiest trail I know. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/14444988

Woooop!

Night ride opener a big success!

There was a puking unicorn, 2 mtbnj kits, 2 bulldogs, and several in halter-like wear. Superfast crowd. The bulldogs kept hitting trees, and then they got in the groooooove of things. the 6 mile was perfect! A couple of puddles. I did an extended nose wheelie to endo flip forward combination that amazed those following me. I aim to please. The unicorn put on a show at times too, taking out a halters and an mtbnjer in a massive pile up on the straight-away superhighway.

Fun fun.

Yeah adam learned a valuable lesson. Don't crash in front of me. I'll run you over. :getsome:

I had a decent race, got 5th. Kirt got 2nd.

I liked the mix of fireroads and ST. It worked well imo.

the Superfly held together by JBWeld and black duct tape survived without crumbling, and this was a tough test on some of the downhills.

This was a good series for me, even though interrupted by the torn MCL in right knee.

It went like this: 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, missed, missed, 11th (on SS), 5 (on SS), 5.

It seems guys got stronger as the series went on. And Kirt's looking real good out there.

If no one else posts up any paydirt, I may take 1st in the 40-44, but that is a big if. So I'll withhold until official results come out. I'd say top 3 is fairly likelyi

We got some good pics, will post up later.

H2H is done, bring on the cross :getsome: :drooling: :2guns:

Thanks Mrs. Kush!... Ilya, great ridin' with ya this season. Pencil in the Michaux Mash for '10, it's around the corner!

Great Pics...

I guess I need to wear an Orange jersey to get more pics...lol

As posted by Norm, fun ride last night at 6MR.

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/15582926

Almost exclusively mtbnj team and halters guys.

This was faster than the first one last week. Bat out of hell fast. The weak get eaten by the bear.

9.9mph avg. Last time was 9.3mph.
14.58m
1hr 28 min
163 avg HR - which was same as my avg HR at Ringwood.

As J said, this is good cross practice.

I am starting to hate the garmin data, I know it is just to be used for a guide but here is Norm's data for the same ride.

9.6mph avg
14.54m
1hr 30 min

The average speed difference does not match up to the time and mileage difference. We all know that garmin data is crap at six mile because of the tight turns, so you guys were easily in the 10's for avgs. But I find there differences annoying, especially if you ride the same loops alot, you will get rock solid number with a regular comp but if just fart in the direction of a garmin, it skews the numbers.

Either way it is fast, btw...

...here is Norm's data for the same ride.

It's entirely possible that the difference is due to me always trying not to stop. Even when we stop to regroup I'll always try to do a track stand, or roll slowly. When we hit that lot and everyone stopped to regroup I rode circles. I may have also hit start earlier in the lot.

It is inconsistent, for sure.

My average HR was just below what I would see in a race, though my max HR was 195 again, which is the second time I've seen it that high in a week.

It doesn't really bother me...

I believe that at least there is some comparability with my unit's data from ride to ride. Which is the point to baseline and measure the diffs between these rides. It FELT a hell of a lot faster this time, and the data supports.

It's interesting, I can never get my HR up on the road nearly as much as I can MTB. I think my max HR avg on a road ride was 156. Although I've never done a crit or road race :hmmm:

That could be it, I was watched my avg drop my a full mph while sitting still at a stop light and the auto pause not kicking in. I just find it annoying.
