Jungle Habitat race course?

I'm pretty certain that we will never see Wilks and Nomad on a ride. I suspect they enjoy riding alone or among their close buds. It's great to be the champion of your own domain.

I'm going to show up at the next downhill event and whine because it did not test my far superior cardiovascular system. 🙄

Today at Jungle .. Epic Fail:

Ben, I'll ride with you anytime just send me a pm, I'll bring beer too. I just won't do more than an XC race or two since the courses aren't technical enough, I am too slow and only ride in my little clique - here are a couple of pics of our biking 2 weekends ago, a shame you weren't with us. Would have been fun watching you climb up Burro Pass and ride UPS, LPS and Porcupine Rim.

This is all quite funny. I personally do about 22 mountain bike races per year along with 16 + Cyclocross races. In a race IMO I don't care if you ride the toughest rock gardens (Waywayanda) or blast up the steepest, longest climbs (Tymor) or even have to jump off your bike to get thru a tech section, the bottom line here is getting to the finish line first. Every rider from the Cat 3's to the top pros dismount and run thru a section if they feel it's faster. I've seen guys like Kabush, Wells, Trebon, Katie Compton, and Georgia Gould all hop off and run a section. And I was in Belgium for the Worlds to see Nys, Boom and Wellons run thru the sand rather than ride it.
Another point is this ... Pre-riding or a fun group ride with your buds is fun. It's cool hitting the tough techy sections and killing it without much effort. Turn that casual group ride into an all out effort in a race situation and it's a lot different. Sections that were a piece of cake may take you by surprise. The race promotors "tune down" the courses to make it a challenge for all racers and not just the Browns, Gamanhos, Focos, Montalbanos and Serrutos of the world. If you guys want what I think is a killer tech course, next year give Highbridge Park in NYC a go, just remember to bring your first aid kit

RC ...

good luck at the race sunday

Stroker Ace was born to race...
wart hog looking good, otter (electric) slide too

the downed tree in the middle of the course bound to cause a bottle neck, most folks don't make over w/o a dab

This thread was a good read. Thank you, ran my blackberry dead reading it at work lot of good points

Those pics were awesome btw... My best MTB pic is of me eating a cliff bar at the concrete bridge at 6mile

Have a good race tommorrow whether you run a bike or ride a bike.
I am full of excuses and wont be racing:popcorn:

😀 Had to look that one up. Totally agree.
It seems a troll is someone with a different opinion than your own? I have been expressing my opinion, nothing more and I think there were several solid counter points made - many that gave me food for thought.

No man. It's not.

In a very efficient manner, you managed to put down pretty much every interest group and venue around...Roadies, XC racers who run their bikes, racers who use brakes on downhills, roadies who race XC, Jungle Habitat, H2H series, leg-shavers, puppies and kittens, ben, etc.

And you yourself said your fitness is nowhere, and fitness is core to XC racing. So maybe as someone said DH or trials is your thing. You're barking up the wrong tree then.

It's kind of like if I came to your house and said your furniture sucks and your dog is slow, and then showed you pics of my cars and kids. Well, except in this case you didn't show anything except poor quality pictures of an awesome place which anyone can pay to experience.

thank goodness he didnt talk s**t about unicorns or all heck would have broken loose.

sounds like I should never go riding with this Wilks guy...I am at my best going fast UP non-technical hills and scream like a frightened little girl at the very sight of boulders.
