H2O #3 Darkhorse Dryoff Thread

loved the fender!!! that was a classic. now you will have to order more lo mein to make another!!

rob mentioned your saddle woes. bummer!

good to see you guys

I think the organizers did a great job. And thanks Mike for playing with my boys and not giving them beer 😀

It's tough scoring with everyone's plates completely caked with mud. I know I finished right next to a guy from 35-39, and we yelled out our nums at the same time. Probably because of that the scoring got messed up, but Mike was on the ball and changed my standings from 6th to 3rd (although the time is still not right on the sheets). I know my Garmin said I was third, as did the #4 guy 🙂

Just another reason for H2H to look into electronic scoring though 😉

Yea, seriously.. I run 5K's where i paid 15 bucks to run in it and we had RFID scoring...

I don't have a problem with how they do it now, but it just seems like it would be easier for the promoters.

Electronic Scoring Systems are expensive to buy. They are also expensive to hire a company to do it and sometimes those results get messed up.

ChipX measuring point: $4,479 (ChipX decoder,12m loop and 5m Coax)
Orbits 4 Software: $2,925
$7404. plus the cost of Chips which go for $109. Each

This is the AMB Timing Product

Check out the people who did Fair Hill:

Assume 400 people, that's a cost of:

$125 base
$350 additional
$475 total

You add $2 per registration fee to cover e-Timing. They also want 3-4 volunteers to help the scoring. But you must already have 3-4 people per race, so it would go from 3-4 people in the current system to 3-4 in the new system.

I'm sure there are other variables but I think people would be more than happy to pay $2 extra per race for e-results. Fair Hill had the resuslts posted 10 minutes after I crossed the line. They continued to add sheets as people rolled in.

MASS series have e-scoring, presumably the couple of large name sponsors paid for that.

Darkhorse did a great job both races, Wawayanda was great, while Tymor was a mess. Sorry Luke I will not be grateful that this is not LM 08. People's shit should be together

I would for sure.

Norm- add in mileage from Erie, PA while you're at it- that's another $400 at least.

Has the championchip timing worked flawlessly for the MASS series? In my research on chip timing, I read plenty of negative comments about the unpowered championchips and their inability to register cyclists traveling across finish lines at high speeds.

The AMB timing system with powered chips is more robust for cycling, but as Jeff said the system is pricey and the chips are very expensive. Wonder if there's a professional timer who uses AMB around here?

Sorry but Erie is not 800 miles from Stewart. It's 400. Ok so not $2 it's $3 extra, I'm cool with that.

If the argument is that it's not perfect, nothing is perfect. But it sure seemed perfect at Fairhills. And it is way more better then 5 ovewhelmed volunteers scrambling to manually score an event 🙂. I'm sure their time is better spent doing other event-related things like run the keg 😀. Split times are nice to have as well, lap charts, history of results, timely posting, etc.

Sweet jesus!!

SeaBass made us all look silly out there, AGAIN!! Damn englishman and his mud prowess!! There would seem to be a battle a brewin':getsome:

Seabeast did kill it out there AGAIN, representing for Team NYCMTB-Peak Bikes. With this win he's going to leapfrog you in the standings, my friend! 😉

Yeah yeah yeah:popcorn:

With Mancuso's recent downgrade from Pro, we're all in trouble!!

Is everyone switching to a 29er? I finished 4th in the beginner 30-39, and it seemed everyone else was riding them. Whats up with them?
