"Let"? Conveniently, you weren't on this board in 2014, so we can't find your stance on the issue, either. Come to think of it, I can't find anything resembling a stance on the current state of affairs, either. Blame Obama, Biden, liberals, whoever... Anyone other than Putin, who bears sole responsibility for starting this war. Here's your chance. What should we have done in 2014 and what should we do now?

How do they not know where all the money we sent or gave in Aid to Ukraine went? No audit trail - give me a break. I have to document everything over $75 dollars at work for the IRS with receipt and they can’t track $350 billion?

We have out spent/lent Europe by 3.5x for Ukraine.

If we let Ukraine in NATO - we are going to war with Russia. Far deeper than just sending weapons. I understand the treaties we signed with Russia to de-arm them, but I would rather negotiate this out than send boots over or worse. Do you want to send the NICA kids or your kids in a few years to fight for Ukraine? Europe should be handling this - we are going to / already have China to worry about.

I knew too many people that went to Iraq & Afghanistan - and for what? The way we left Afghanistan was a disgrace. Iraq is not in a great spot either. Russia has fought over Ukraine for centuries - let Europe handle this.

Are you saying we gave Ukraine money? Because from what I heard we gave them old munition that we would never use and actually pay to dispose of because apparently was to old to use by our armed forces.

What we should have done is called Putin a dictator( Donald's a puss though and would never do that). He'd rather call Zelensky a dictator yet have him in the Oval Office. Little Weiner syndrome Donald has.

We have given them cash as part of the aid packages.

In addition, we have given them lots more than “old munitions”. While a good portion of aid is in “dumb” or antiquated munitions by todays standards - I would not call HIMARS “old munitions”.

I don't think you are a dumb person, so explain to me why he would sign it... Then, please, let me know how signing it prevents us from a future conflict with Russia... Im listening

Thats OK but the point was that the previous administration got things done. We have 3 branches of government that hasn't worked for the people but I will take this Country over any other. But the DOGE bags are not elected part of government. I am all for cutting waste just like Bill and Newt did cutting waste. The Debt we have now is unsustainable.
 
We gave Ukraine security guarantee in Budapest when they agree to give up the nukes. Brits did too and because of that they are ready to send troops. But we are spineless, Putin call the shots and Trump is in his pocket. His first wife Ivana father was working for Czechoslovakia secret police (their version of KGB). Trump went to USSR first time with Ivana in 1987. Since then KGB was very interested in him and analyzed him as someone who can be easily manipulated (to put it nicely) and the rest is history.
This is something you not going to find watching mains stream media who brainwash people in this country. Come to think of it media here is no different than in Poland during communism where I grew up. They only tell you what they want you to hear and right now you can actually see how government controls media.

Better yet - why don’t you let us know how Ukraine is getting out of this.

I see three options - let the war continue as is. Current pro—Ukraine supporters (will lump US in here) go on as is until human power or funds are exhausted and one side caves. Which will lead to below.

Second option - sign some sort of treaty now and allow Europe to commit to defense spending and build its arm up. Essentially we are in a new Cold War and replace what East/West Germany went through with the current battle lines drawn as new boarders.

Three - Let Ukraine into NATO and we go to war with Russia, China see’s the US is over advanced, joins and goes into Taiwan. Iran and its proxies test Israel and their bonds in the region. China also pushes the US interests in Africa and South America. WW3.

Am I missing one?

Honey Bear hates when I talk about this stuff. Inflation is killing me, I had to switch to Hamm’s beer - taste is so so but the price is right.

I don't think that would have changed a thing. Putin does what he wants because he's a dick with nukes. Zelensky and Ukraine live this nightmare every day. I think he kept his composure pretty well given the circumstances. Not saying we should go in with troops, but appeasing Putin in any way makes me sick.

I agree with you and not denying what previous administration accomplished. I'm saying there is a lot of things that could be done better.
I don't even want talk about DOGE and this whole shit show...MAGA followers are turning on Trump. Idiots didn't know who they voted for.

New battle in Washington is between the RNC and DNC over who gets to use this as their new party symbol in place of the elephant and donkey. Sometimes sharing bilaterally is the best option.

Really, because I am trying to get my fat ass off the couch and go hiking so I don’t want to respond - but. My face below shows my mood.

One - It puts some sort of repayment plan in place and helps Trump conjure his base to see we aren’t getting ripped off in a time he is going after waste/fraud in spending.

Two - by bringing American interests into Ukraine in a manner that is viable to the people of the US and his base - to develop resources and bring back funds/assets disbursed - it makes further aggression by Russia into Ukraine an easier sell to start to strike into Russia if American interests are lost. Whatever interests we have there now are long forgotten about. One day these would be too - unless he makes a big deal about them weekly during his tenure, as he likes to do.

The second is the fact that Trump has at least tried to negotiate with Putin also offers Trump a leg to stand on in case we do go to war with Russia. Because the mainstream media and big government would love that and BLAME TRUMP daily. Chess not checkers.

That interview was ridiculous - Trump was screwed either way, he came from a position of power rather than the US getting lectured by Zelensky. I am rooting for the US - I sympathize for Ukraine but don’t see how anyone wins without ridiculous loss of life in addition to what has been lost - and either way it ends in a “Cold War” scenario - just like Israeli sees daily.

Now @UtahJoe please let me know how this is going to end in a great position for Ukraine without expanding the conflict?
