The Good Deals Thread

Anyone need a wicked DH bike. About as cheap as you’ll find anywhere…
Since I never pulled the trigger on the LaBomba, I went back and looked - some of that pricing is shown back to full value. So its not just a fire sale as originally thought.

Everything that is sold out shows as the original price. The LaBomba models they have left are still listed for 50% off. The Fury deal is something that I'm having a hard time not acting upon. It's better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission right?

I was going for the frame which is still available, but I can't get over the 'adjustable' dropouts as they seem just an afterthought...more specifically I don't like the fact that the brake caliper does not move with the dropout. Still a nice looking bike.

It does move. The kid in our shop shortened the rear to the minimum and was able to adjust the caliper. Here is mine the way it came.

Yes, but it doesn't move with the rear axle, se comparison pictured below. Also, the axle is retained by the very threaded tip of the screw, I'm sure it works but could have used a little bit more thinking...personal opinion obviously.

Speaking of their gravel bikes....the non-ebike ones, anyone have any insight as to whether their lowest model currently on sale for $600 is a bargain for someone interested in just "dabbling"?

My daughter rides rail trails sometimes for training. She is on a gravel bike that someone graciously loaned us, and it's so much mor efficient then any mountain bike I own. I followed her for "some" of her ride this past Saturday on my Ragley and it was honestly torture, so I was thinking of maybe picking up the lowest level GT Gravel bike to tag along.

I don't exactly have a burning desire to own a gravel bike, but she is looking to ride further and explore, and I also don't love her riding too far away on her own so I envision myself needing to tag along on more rides in the future. And TBH, I could use the extra exercise.

Only potential weak points I see on that are the mechanical ProMax brakes and the square taper BB. But if you aren't screaming down steep gravel roads at 30mph+ the brakes should probably be fine 😄 (and both are fairly easy to upgrade later on if you want). Advent X is solid mechanical 10 speed and the gearing is good for mixed terrain. Solid frame and the geo looks fairly spot on for modern gravel bikes.

As an aside, I never thought I'd be the person to own a gravel bike either. But I've found they spice up my local park paths a bit more than a MTB and the added fitness is great for longer mountain bike rides too.

It's probably fine for what you described to use it for, but somewhere down the line you may want to do some more with it especially when she wants to get a better one.

Maybe poke around FB Marketplace a little see whats for sale used within reasonable price range. You may be able to get "more bike" for like $800 that you wont need to upgrade later on.

What size gravel bike do you ride? I'm considering selling mine since I haven't ridden mine at all last year.

Thanks All! As for what Size, I'm guessing Large, but really not sure. 5'11" but proportioned a bit like an orangutan, short legs but long body/arms.

Well I have a Trek CrossRip 2 size 54 (Medium) for sale if you're interested.

Not trying to steer you away from NBD, but it's likely your tires killing your ride. Try lower rolling resistance tires instead of a new bike
