Ask an automobile mechanic.

I'd install that pad, that little chip isn't going to effect it's performance and in 6 months of use the pad might be down past that chip.

How was it packaged? That's some shitty QC

Thanks, I was planning to return just wanted some reassurance that I'm not being overly fussy. The four pads were in the original box (VW parts from FCP Euro), but that wasn't very well packaged inside the larger box that everything came in so I'm guessing it was shifting around a lot in transit.

Actually, looks like there are two pads with similar damage now that I'm checking again.

if you picked it up locally i would open the next box before leaving the store with them.

late to the party
Ziggys is good. I think that's close enough. I'd stick to a BMW specialist shop with a M4. @Rollin Dice Sweet m4! any M is a great car!

Not close but I may visit in the future - Bimmer Clinic, South Amboy.

I've been to a couple other even more south but not convenient for you

Question about transmission fluid service (drain and fill)
2010 Honda Accord v6 160k miles
Just noticing subtle lack of smoothness between shifts, most noticeable between 1 & 2
Nothing major, but I figured I should do this, especially in light of recently replacing a seized rear caliper.

Made an appt and brought it to the dealership,
where I was told they wouldn't do the service- huh?
Service writer said he's seen ATF drain and fills on neglected transmissions brick them.
Says guidance is to drain and replace every 30k miles

Previous owner had the car up to 136k and did *all* services at a different dealership
I check the records and see ATF drain and fill at:
44.6k miles
89.5k miles
and a Transmission Cooler Line Replacement at 122k, which I would assume would entail at least a partial replacement of fluid

Call service writer back with this info and he says, well if you want to roll the dice we'll do it.
(I hate this fucking dealership and will take it elsewhere if I move forward on this)

To the mechanics in here, if this was your car, what would you do here?
If it has any bearing, fluid still has some color to it (not burnt and dark) and sweetness to the smell.

I would proceed with a drain and fill. Just make sure they will not be doing a flush. The high pressure flush is what can damage old/neglected transmissions a drain and fill not so much.

I would also make sure they change the filter

Yeah, the drain vs flush and correct fluid is why I was going to the dealership.
Was also planning on asking about the filter, but never made it that far.
