Going Long and Hard.

Ohiopyle itself has good handmade singletrack riding and some new machine built trails. Lots of elevation. A few ppl who have done tour divide that I’ve met train around there and work at the local outfitters- Wilderness Voyagers.

Coopers rock state forest WV. Rode this weekly during undergrad. Love it. Have gone back many times.

Big bear lake Camplands. Weird fun place. Used to have a 24hr team race there. Also used to be the site of a long standing “dirt rag” bike fest. Still has a yearly bike-bash. More trails than you can cover in a weekend. Good idea to have a conversation about this place before you ride it.

Alegrippis is also 45 min away from there.

I’ll DM you some example routes.
Cool. Confused. Allegrippis is 45 mins from where?

Really struggled to get on top of it today, but somehow pulled it off.

Really stacked work week so it was really hard to get motivated to do anything. I hate this part of the year because we just get bent over by everyone and it’s easy to go into a really dark place.

But, Friday morning my eldest kid agreed to spend the day with me because he had no plans!!

We went to Chimney Rock in the AM. Short loop because he hasn’t been riding a lot and we wanted it to be fun.

We grabbed egg sandwiches from the little quickie mart at the top of the hill afterwards, which BTW, probably has the best egg and cheese sandwiches anywhere.

He wanted to practice a guitar piece for a few hours so we split and I jumped in the Kayak.

With new boat being so light and easy to carry around I went across the Raritan and hiked over the towpath into the canal. Took that up to Lock1 and then hiked up to the spillway and jumped back into the Raritan for the return trip.

Spotted a goose stuck in the bushes and went over to get him untangled or whatever. Turns out he was being eaten by a Fox and they ran away as soon as I got close. Tried to get the goose somewhere safe but it kept trying to bite me and I didn’t have anything to throw on him. Eventually I got him way downstream to a little beach. Gave him all my snacks and tree to make him comfortable but he’s definitely dead by now.

Speaking of dead, we went to see Deadpool afterwards and that was awesome.

Today I went to see Deadpool again with my wife and other kid. Spent the day legitimately anxious about starting another work week. I have Jury Duty Tuesday and I’m actually hoping it’s for something long because I’m pretty burnt out right now…

Here’s a picture of Kevin because Kevin has the best life.

Have you seen the skateboarding turtle video on the socials? Kevin looks like he needs a skateboard.

I bruised a Kidney Kayaking and have been sort of lollygagging a bit this week.

During my Commute home Sunday my tire started rubbing on the bottom of my fork. Stopped and let some air out, loosened the wheel and dropped it a bit to make it home, looked like a bubble in the tire?

Monday morning I swapped on a new tire and it was better but looked like my wheel had a hop in it. Rode to work and it seemed fine.

Trued the wheel at work and it was dead on so wasn’t really sure what was going on. Turns out the rim started separating on the inside from braking and was splitting apart. Stole the shop VadoSL to ride home.

Ordered a new front rim and put the Trispoke on for the meantime.

Reminder that Rusty2 is absolutely absurd. I’m planning to use this bike for the Major Taylor ride in 2 weeks because it just makes sense.

Launch Day!! Can officially post what this wheelset is, Zipp 303S X’Plor. Thankfully I tested the many failed versions of integrated TireWiz and got many flats, so you don’t have to 😂

At least I hope they figured out the TireWiz. I had mine Gorilla Taped so you couldn’t see them.

And? Why does one need these??? You need to throw the sales pitch out there!

Stumbled across this hidden spot riding with my kid last week and decided to check it out. Pretty hot out so only an hour session but it’s always fun dusting this bike off. Wish there was more than just me because that makes these rides a lot more fun.

I have a Brevet tomorrow. It was supposed to be a Team Dart but my team never actually materialized. Then I joined a team and all of those guys bailed. You need a minimum of 3 people so my ride won’t count as a Solo effort but Mac is throwing a BBQ afterwards so I’ll do my own ride like it’s with the team. But I won’t have a team. This is why I ride alone and never make plans that involve other people. Other people are not reliable.

Brutally hot for the Cranbury Pop Dart today. I quickly changed my 100-mile route to the minimum 75 when I hit Lambertville. I went through my Hydro Vest and 2 bottles in about 50 miles. Kinda thought hiding on the Canal would help but there’s not much tree cover after Trenton.

Anywho.
