The bridge would also need to be at an elevation to extend over the flood zone (100 yr).

This is the major factor. Modern engineering design will not allow a structure to be build below the 100yr flood elevation, for good reason. If it's below the flood elevation the structure has a good chance of being washed away in the first flood. And being directly next to a vehicular bridge it would increase the risk of damaging that structure if it's swept away.

It’s likely any new structure would have to comply with the latest design specs, but I don’t know if that applies to hiking/biking trails

A shipping container (or other) bridge here would be doable. Building a trail to it would be no problem for jdog. Just not sure what that span is. During flooding time, it would just not be rideable (which would probably be a good thing)

What you don't see here is the elevation drop from the road surface to the bank and its like 50ft to clear it in a dry condition. That entire area is 10-12ft lower than the Canal Rd Lot. A snap shot below is from the plans to repair the culvert that shut down that section of canal road last year.

As long as the current doesnt get to strong. The always have one of these at the ABSA cape epic but its always on a still pond.

If we're just looking for the easiest way to get a loop back to canal, can't we build something here? That might avoid all the elevation and flood issues next to Canal Rd.

Something like this has a pretty low impact.

Any chance of placing a bridge there and then cutting a new trail close to Blue so that it is still a loop? Like a dragons neck north of the stream? That would be an awesome opportunity.

Not sure which would be amenable especially not knowing what belongs to the park or what’s private. The yellow would be easiest since you’d basically be riding on the paved/ gravel road. I like the 1st pic route better though.
